Macclesfield match thread
Re: Macclesfield match thread
Can we stop talking about how much racism there is and what is and what isnt.
No barrow fan called Brown a "monkey" simple as. When players came out for 2nd half i was stood right next to the tunnel talking to 2 police officers i know and there was absolutely nothing said, a bit of jeering but nothing more. I don't think i heard anything other than "booooooo" and the police didnt react to anything so quite clearly they didnt hear it either. I was no further away from Brown and King than any other fan so if I didnt hear it then they cant of. Simple.
To the police / fa / sky sports / the sun / evening mail / the board and anyone else trying to make this into something it isnt then feel free to contact me and i will make a statement... Surely as reliable as what Brown claims to have said and should get the same coverage
Rant Over.

It would have been far easier for them to score because of the offside rule. It's not a corner remember, if we put someone on the post at a free kick like that they could stand anywhere in the box they like and they would have positioned themselves to block the keepers view. As it was they could not stand any closer than the wall without being offside. It is just a shame it went under the wall and Hurst spilled it with his injured hand. It was also the one real time Hessey lost his man and they scored.A.B. wrote:Pretty baffled as to why we didn't have a man on the post in that situation.

Manager on the 1-1 draw with Bluebirds.
So a draw in the FA Cup means we take them back to ours. What were your thoughts on the game?
"We've had to deal with a lot of long balls, and I think we were the only side playing football, but to be fair to them, they've worked hard from the first minute and gave a good account of themselves. Limited us and had a couple of good chances late on.
“We defended well in the second half when they were throwing everything at us in the box, and law of averages, they will win some headers and cause us problems.
“We were under a lot of pressure there and changed it to bring Pablo in for another body in midfield to try and hit them on the break. Sometimes you get what you think you deserve, and we've played much better than that and lost. So today we weren't at our best but we competed well today and defended well at the end.”
So pleased to have brought them back for then replay?
“They were at home and were always going to put us under pressure, and we needed to stand up and be counted, and I think we did that late on, but we could have had the game won earlier with some good chances like JP hitting the crossbar.”
But good to see Charnock reacting first?
“We always tell the players to be alert in that situation and look for the rebounds, and it was a good job he was there to put it away. We were a bit aggrieved by their goal as we thought Nat had been fouled in the build-up, but it was a great strike. Overall we don’t think we’ve played our best today, but we’re still in it!”
Do you want to say anything about the incident involving Nat Brown?
“I heard it when I was coming out, from some of the fans behind the goal, and that's obviously not acceptable. The referee wants to report the incident, but it's a shame we have to talk about something like this after a game of football.”

So they were the only side playing football yet and i quote, “We were under a lot of pressure there and changed it to bring Pablo in for another body in midfield to try and hit them on the break. Funny that isn't it they were the only side playing football yet were under a lot of pressure. Come on King your team took a hell of a beating and for the record Boyes nearly broke the woodwork in two with a fantastic shot. We will do em in the replay.Jonty wrote:kings view on the match-

Can't stop laughing, I am having deja-vu. Are we playing Rotherham again? Another deluded manager believing his team were the best, head in the clouds as to what just happened. Maybe he is distracted with other alleged events, as well.
No wonder he is under pressure from the Macc fans, hasn't a clue. Wonder what their traveling support think of his comments?

Re: Macclesfield match thread
There is some serious lying going on on their forum now. There's no other word for it. We are nowe supposed to b making racist noises agfter we scored at Nat Brown. We were chanting Cheat, cheat, cheat, cheat at him. That's because he was a cheat. he went down then, and at every other opportunity as did their full back in the second half.
Loads of folk I know, and trust were in that area, none heard anything. Many would have confronted anyone who had made any racist comment. So, on balance, I find it hard to believe a player who cheats and a manager under pressure who will say anything to keep his cushy 4 day a week job in the north.
Between them they have dragged Barrow's name through the mud today. No one else.

Seriously though, don't knock em they'll go mad they clearly read our forum and 1 + 1 = 3. Someone only mentioned that it was rather poor attendance by them and they have gone off on one, after someone posted that we are having a go at them which is not the case. A very sensitive bunch, careful.
Just on a side note about the attendance. For an FA Cup 2nd round away attendance, surely it has to be some kind of record? Lowest away support since away support figures have been compiled? ...Anyone?
Re: Macclesfield match thread
Howdy
I think it's dangerous to brand him a liar like some on here are. Surely nobody can claim it categorically didn't happen, only that they personally didn't hear it? The fact is the accusation has been made and it needs to go through the proper channels. Unfortunately because of the current media storm surrounding racism in football it's escalated and in danger of presenting a false representation of Barrow, when of course any reasonable person knows there are idiots at every club.
I don't know Nat Brown personally but he's been our captain for a few seasons now and I personally don't think he'd make it up. And anyone who claims or alludes to that without evidence is on dangerous ground. But of course it was noisy, he could have misheard etc etc. but if a player genuinely believes that's what they've heard he has every right to make the allegation and it has to be dealt with accordingly. I think we can all agree that anyone aims racist language at a footballer deserves severe punishment.
To Barrow's credit I don't think you could have done any more to deal with a difficult situation with an announcement on the night and a speedy statement from the chairman.
PS Heysham_Bluebird, that is amazing.

Re: Macclesfield match thread
For what it's worth, my view:
Worst case scenario one person, perhaps a couple of people, have been accused of an extremely offensive remark. The media have blown it out of proportion. Most right minded people will realise that if the allegation is true, it does not represent the attitude of the overwhelming majority of barrow fans.
I wasn't at the game (amongst the huge away following) and cannot comment upon any diving, cheating etc and will take your word that this is correct. Equally, in the same vein surely you must accept that if an allegation has been made there is a fair chance that the individual concerned at least believes that he heard what he is alleging whether or not it was actually said.
Hopefully common sense can prevail and the extremes from both message boards can start commenting on matters in a more reasoned manner?

Re: Macclesfield match thread
Nobody apart from your manager and the player appears to have heard it.
So it's ok to say we are racists but not to say a player has lied - I don't know him but he was at the ref all night trying to influence the ref in my book that's cheating and that makes him dishonest

Re: Macclesfield match thread
So tell us, MaccFan, how some on your forum members can clearly make out monkey noises on a highlights video when no one stood in the area heard any racial abuse?
Popular side since '03.
Re: Macclesfield match thread
Ok, to claim nobody heard it is a bit silly. At least entertain the possibility that this board doesn't contain every Barrow fan and the possibility that if it did happen people may not want to admit it and risk getting their team in trouble. It's at least possible, right?
Also there's a big difference between a football player trying to get decisions by play acting (from the opinion of opposition fans I should add) and making such a severe allegation.
I just think not entertaining the possibility (especially at a club where this has happened before, correct me if I'm wrong?) makes you look at best nieve and at worst complicit.
Matty, same point about 'nobody hearing it' and in fairness people admit on there they may be imagining it in these hightened circumstances. Plus there's a few unreasonable folk on there same as here.

Re: Macclesfield match thread
Listen pal if it had happened someone would have been on here going on about straight away. The fact police stewards and fans didn't hear anything suggests its bull shit
You are clearly a bad judge of character because Nat Brown was cheating diving and moaning at the ref - using every trick in the book dare I say it even playing the race card to influence the ref.

Re: Macclesfield match thread
Oh yeah, its definitely something that could have happened, and given the allegation, probably did. But it was probably just one remark from one person.
Describing it as chants etc though is just totally wrong.
Personally, I think it probably did happen, as I noticed brown, hessey and the ref come out of the tunnel, and brown looked very angry whilst expressing himself to the ref. Don't see what he's got to gain right at that moment by making it up.
