Re: Barrow Transfer embargo...?
I believe the sum is 12K I also find it difficult to believe the Chairman knew nothing about this,
Re: Barrow Transfer embargo...?
I think it's closer to £8k than 12 and I assume it's getting paid by cheque because the company account probably has nothing in it.

He knew about the outstanding bill, but not about the embargo, is this what you mean?optomisticsupporter wrote:I believe the sum is 12K I also find it difficult to believe the Chairman knew nothing about this,
Re: Barrow Transfer embargo...?
Seem to recall someone on the board saying "Football is a business." Well What we have seen lately is a "business" being run very very badly. Tarnishing the "business" name of Barrow AFC very badly in the eyes of its customers.Namely us the supporters, potential future customers and sponsors alike.Very Very embarrassing.
Seasons to be cheerful.Part 16 3/4

Firstly, Ant, have you looked at your signature recentlyant wrote:Seem to recall someone on the board saying "Football is a business." If you are in business, in a recession, and not enough customers buy your product, but you still have all your bills to pay such as wages, utility bills, staff, etc, eventually you run out of cash. That isn't necessarily running your business badly, let alone "very, very badly", it's just a combination of economic and social factors outside your control. We always knew money was tight and I guess that the postponements and added costs (eg reimbursing Macc and match officials) without any income meant that the club simply ran out of cash to pay bills.
We probablyc an't afford to be in this league, but full marks to the Board and Bayliss for keeping us there for so long.

Registration Embargo Lifted
Following the payment to PAYE of outstanding monies, the Football Conference lifted the club's registration embargo at lunchtime on Wednesday.
The club is now free to transfer or sign new players and extend existing deals if applicable.

Embargo Lifted
The BOD are pleased to announce that the outstanding NI bill has been paid and the embargo has been officially lifted which means Dave Bayliss can go ahead with his plans to recruit new players.

Re: Transfer Embargo LIFTED
Great news!
Re: Transfer Embargo LIFTED
Great news it's been lifted.
Not so great news if we go out signing players on bigger wages than the ones who have gone back to their parent clubs.
There is a reason we had a transfer embargo and that reason is that we're living beyond our means.
It would be beyond idiotic if we have a bigger wage bill by the end of January than the wage bill we ended December with.

No, it's because Russell Dodd had the shits and forgot to put a tenner on PAYGReg wrote:There is a reason we had a transfer embargo and that reason is that we're living beyond our means.
In all seriousness, I still think we could get out of the relegation zone with the players we have...IF...we pay the players on time and if we really want to (as a club/business). If we are determined to, or it's preferable to drop to the Conf North then DB should be told now and not bother stressing over the transfer window and look to build a team for next season.
I wanna take you to an Away Bar

So will O'Donnell be the first signing? Still hoping we go to Fleetwood/Preston etc and see what they could loan us (Mr McNulty would be nice)

Re: Transfer Embargo LIFTED
I know what you mean, but I wouldn't want McNulty to be nice; I'd want him to be a horrible git who kicks seven shades of shit out of opposing forwards. In the nicest possible way, of course.HenneysKnee wrote:So will O'Donnell be the first signing? Still hoping we go to Fleetwood/Preston etc and see what they could loan us (Mr McNulty would be nice)
