Selfishly for me, probably better to play Saturday due to childminding arrangements
Gateshead Game
Re: Gateshead tonight - GAME OFF
Not making excuses and to be fair to Gateshead, the way I read it on the official site is that it is the travel company who have said not prepared to travel.

Use a coach company that will get them here then.tictactoe wrote:Not making excuses and to be fair to Gateshead, the way I read it on the official site is that it is the travel company who have said not prepared to travel.

Exactly send Reays across for them then bill the barstewards double. They got us to Newport and back on Saturday through the worst of it.

Would leave the snow where it is now though! WIll act as an insulator and keep the pitch playable

According to Highways Agency website, the latest live info is that all routes (incl A66 & A69) are all open/there are no travel disruptions/delays. The only thing is it's snowing at the moment - shock, horror - believe it or not it's January.
No reason not to travel. Can they not be thrown out of the competition for " failing to fulfill a fixture "

On behalf of Barrow AFC I would like to pass on our sincere thanks to all those who turned up to help to clear the snow this morning only to find out that the game had been called off due to health & safety reason connected with Gateshead travel.

Re: Gateshead tonight - GAME OFF
Well if they can't stage games at home and can't travel this can't go on, maybe they are stalling playing the game until they have a new pitch laid.
In the meantime we as a club continue to suffer - fixture pile up because of a problem with someone elses pitch isnt going to help us financially or in our relegation battle.

According to the official website it was called off with the FA in agreement.Steeley wrote:Theyll have to have a proper explanation for the FA id imagine.
Re: Gateshead tonight - GAME OFF
A friend of mine just drove Barrow-Newcastle via Carlisle to go back to uni. Said it was absolutely fine. I've done about a thousand miles in the last couple of weeks where it's been snowing somewhere long the route and had no issues whatsoever - main roads have been absolutely fine even with 5 inches on the ground... and in case nobody noticed, our ground is slap bang on a major trunk route.
Everyone else in the country is managing to get to work. And it's hardly peak holiday time - surely there's a less pathetic coach company who'll bring them over?

If we win on Saturday then we will be away at gainsborough Tuesday (stockport and macclesfield at home to arrange)

We will still be playing when the season finishes at this rate!!!!!
