After wembley we signed loads of old past it players and had a terrible season. We vowed after that to get young ambitious lads and we did that and had a very good season .

The best young lads then went to bigger better clubs.

We opted for player with experience this season and bar a decent cup run weve had a shocking season and now weve gone back on the experienced trail again and we are signing players who didn't sign for Stockport.

What is our transfer policy? It keeps changing. How can we bring McEvily back and not Paul Tait?
A team with no cash does not have a transfer policy, it is all about getting the players that are available at the right time, seen to be good enough (this is obviously a matter of opinion and debate on many of the players) & more importantly are willing/ wants to play for us.

Sometimes we have to play the hand we are dealt and that is what Bayliss is trying to do on a day to day basis.

We had a great early season with the youngsters, but we started to miss some experience later on IMO and heads dropped quickly.

Youngsters tend to find it harder to recover from a bad spell or even when behind in a game: we need a mixture of experienced players who can form a backbone of the team, with the younger players.

Hibbert came to Stockport through Myerscough College as I think did Danny Rowe (one the other or both ! ). This link was set up by Jim Gannon and his assistant and I gather has now been severed with his departure, Could we take up the slack ?

Agree with this. Its effectively the "Tesco Metro 10.50pm" policy (ie: the transfer window is Tesco's and we're off down there ten mins before it closes to see what we can pick up for next-to-nothing off the reduced shelves) ;)

Proof?

I'm not going to judge this book by it's cover. Let's wait and watch the lad play first before we judge.

Welcome Sam, hope you're time at Holker St is enjoyable and productive!

Dave, no disrespect to Sam intended there. It was meant as a general comment on how our transfer dealings have, of necessity, sometimes appeared in the last couple of years, rather than a specific reference to our latest recruit and is after all, only a stupid analogy (though if I may continue with it; that's not to say that the stuff you can get in Tesco's at 10 to 11 off the reduced shelf is necessarily crap. Sam may well turn out to be that unsold fresh cream Belgian chocolate profiterole stack that turns out to be pretty damn tasty, actually! :D)

Ah chocolate analogy, now you're talking my kinda language. I hear you Arvo, the policy perhaps isn't best, but only time will tell.

Perhaps the transfer policy should be the subject of a different thread. Poor Sam must be wondering what he's let himself in for.

Telford signe Ian Craney today.

Yes we probably can't afford him and they can but which one would you be more excited over?

A centre mid which we desperately whos going to win the ball and spread the ball out who has vast experience.

Or a lancaster and morecambe recommendation who plays right back of which we already have one whos doing his job and scoring important goals?
Telford released 3 players to compensate for the arrival of Craney. Also, I think centre mid is about the only position we don't need another player for. As someone has previously said, I'm sure he's in for cover, not going to walk into the starting 11.

We need to live in the real world; I get "excited" over what I can afford not dream about what I can't
