Looked like a great effort by all again today, I popped in to seal a window in the bdf shop and change a wired glass broken panel in the crossbar corridoor, but noticed young and old people everywhere including board members grafting away, inside and out and in all corners of the ground.

It already looked great on my arrival as the princes trust had painted lots of things and the ground clearing volunteers had the place spotless from previous efforts.

Also had the privalidge of scoring my first ever penalty on holker street against a lad who also had a cracking morning on the pitch with a ball

Any updates available as to what got done in total as I had to leave early...............all great stuff well done to all !!!!!!!!!!

Great stuff, People Power, :flag: hope the BoD Agree to let Office/Computer/Management/man the shop types help to ease the load behind the scenes, freeing the Directors to push the club further forwards.

Just a quick update for those interested.

Nine & a half at the ground today, Mrs senorita, barrowfanchris, Louis, Rio (he's the half, about 3 or 4 years old but he was sweeping up & never stopped asking questions ) Peter (don't know if he posts on here but he reads the forum) Neil, Sam, Steve, John Mackay & myself.

Some of the job's started or completed today were -

1/ Some signs that the wind had blown off put back on the walls.
2/ GTBLUES donated wooden flooring was finished off in the MA, that area is now being stocked up with paint, shovels, sweeping brush's etc.
3/ Gents sign put up at the pop side/cross bar end toilets.
4/ A couple of fences the stewards wanted put up have been erected & fastened into the ground.
5/ Loads more rubbish removed & binned from around the ground.
6/ The broken window in the cross bar was started but not too sure whether that was finished as I never got up there to have a look at Mrs senorita's handywork.
7/ We tried to make the Wilkie Rd/Holker St corner below the floodlight look a bit better by putting the fencing a little straighter & sweeping up & removing all the rusting old metalwork from underneath it.
8/ The handrail on the steps of the BDF shop is now in position & fastened to the ground.
9/ John was in the kitchen repainting the walls & ceiling most of the morning.

Think that's about it. We'll be down there again next Sunday if anyone wants to start sticking their names down, as before there's job's for old-young-male-female.

I feel as though I must mention that the young people from the Princes trust have been out & about with their paint pot's again this week & although their work is helpfull, some of it (imo) is perhaps not best thought out & there are area's now that will probably need work on them again to put them right.
I mention this as last week there were comments about certain areas suggesting that the volunteers on Sundays were perhaps responsible for some of the work & it wasn't up to a very good standard.
Any of the painting thats visible & new around the ground wasn't the Sunday volunteers.

No. They were by the away supporters disabled area, don't really know why they wanted them there to be honest but that's what they asked for!

If this could be organised with trained, conscientious and trustworthy individuals with a volunteer coordinator, this is an area that really could allow progress to be made.

The next visit by myself will be on Sunday morning, again from 9-12 but if anyone can spare anytime on any other day we can inform the BoD's & they can use the keys we have to gain access through turnstile 'C' & carry on with the work that's still ongoing.
From my point of view it won't be every Sunday or sometimes not even every other Sunday (the nagging has started ) so the more people who can become involved in this work the better.
Still plenty to do this weekend if anyones interested.

The ground is really looking cared for now. Had a walk round in the sunshine this afternoon and the only blot on the landscape is the rubbish behind the stewards cabins. I nearly went behind to clear some of it but then had second thoughts as it looks as if it could be housing the odd vermin.
At long last the broken pane of glass in the Xbar door has been replaced so a big thank you to whoever did that.
Ian is there anyone who can investigate the leak in the gents toilet in the Xbar as I am worried in case someone slips and sues us? It could be coming from the first washhand basin.
Let's keep up the good work as it is making a difference.

I have been having a tidy up at home and have a few bits and pieces of tools, paint, filler, an old hoover, a TV (for brew time??) a smalll workbench ,some bits of wood etc.

Is it possible you have a van/largish car which could call at the weekend and pick up the stuff (or if you are there at other times I might be able to bring it in a few trips).

Not sure everything will be suitable but I am sure most of it will find a good home with you.

Let me know when you might be able to pick up the items or when you would be there to drop them off

In reply to holkerbird,I spent last Sunday cleaning around the stewards cabin area-what a s*** hole-I cleared a few wheelie bins of rubbish & this weekend I will hopefully clear a lot more-I know there is a lot of rubbish behind the cabin but after 3 hours I thought 'that can be done next time',not realising someone would be nosey & look behind the cabin!!!

Dave Ryder was looking at the hole in the ceiling with me a couple of weeks ago & we noticed that there was water on the floor, I've seen our resident plumber & hopefully he might be able to have a look at it on Sunday.

You had better believe it biggestfans. I look everywhere. My inspections cover the places no one even sees. There's no hiding place from my eyes. It's what us women do.
Having spent 2-3 hours collecting rubbish in the pouring rain with water literally running off the bottom of my coat and the next day 2-3 hours in a gale force wind starting all over again I know the problems of being a litter Warden!!. .
I'll keep you posted!!!!!!
