Wembley 1990 Team Reforming to Play?

For all things Barrow AFC. Keep discussions civil and fair, we're all Barrow aren't we!

Er...

Do we realise the age of the 90 team?

They would be [SwearFilter].

I would love to see this as I wasn't born to see the 1990 game.

I'm in my 50's and some of the 90's lads are older than me!
When kenny legend Lowe last played he looked old then, I bet that must be 15 years ago or so.

Would love to see it happen but think its a huge ask. You couldn't play 2 sides with 20 years difference, even with goals headatart, the fitness would be massively different.
why not play the leek side or someone else from that era.

BBCRC tweeted about this before. Not sure if they've got the INFO off here though.

Wouldn't it be more likely that they would mix the 90's lads in with some younger lads and have two teams of close to equal numbers of older and younger players.

Fantastic idea and I hope it's well supported!

If they played the 2010 Wembley side, there could be the Flookborough duo of Cowps & Walker up front - what a pairing!

Lowe looked the same in 1990 and again when he came back. Legend!

What about this?

Who would get in our side now and vice versa with 1990 side?

For me theres no option but McDonnell, Skiv, Lowe, Doc, Cowps. In now maybe Sodje, Boyes? i dont know.

Football was different then.

The club could use this to bring in some much needed cash even if the gate reciepts are for charity,

how about selling Autographed shirts? I would love to have a shirt autographed by all the 1990 squad and another by 2010 winning squad, put it in a nice frame and charge say £150 a pop each or £250 for both

also autographed photo's, these would be much cheaper but again I bet there is loads of demand for signed photos, just look at what some people pay on e-bay for admittedly more well known premiership players, there is still a level of interest at our level and the club could make some money from this as I am sure if the players are all together they wouldnt mind spending an hour signing stuff for the club to sell

Looks like there'll be an official announcement over the 24 hours or so - sounds like a fantastic opportunity to play with some BAFC heroes!

Sounds class - but going back to the age of the 1990 team, Neil Doherty will be one of the youngest and he's just turned 43! (I bet he still looks awesome in shorts tho') - which I would sponsor for the occasion of aforementioned match! (Like the good old days).

My dad played and managed barrow celtic in the 80s. He died a few years ago though so wont be available.
