Bit of a disappointing turnout today through one reason or another, which led us to have to let Steve Leonard down with the pick up his donated items. Sorry about that Steve, we'll try & arrange another day if possible.
Eight people down there today, Myself, Jonty, Mrssenorita, Peter, Neil, Russ & a bloke & young lad who I completely forgot to mention last week, sorry.
Bloke & young lad & Jonty did a cracking job of picking up the usual rubbish that gets left around after a match including clearing our a lot of crap from under the floodlight area's.
Mrssenorita & Peter had a massive job of moving paint tins, bench's & shed loads of rubbish from the car park & stewards cabin area, it really is a big improvement.
I (hopefully) helped the look of the ground by taking down all the fencing around the floodlights & putting it back up in a more tidy & solid looking way rather than it looking like it had just been thrown there.
Neil (our spark) was working on the last of the electrics in the M.A. which included putting up brackets & the extra wire's for us to be able to use the strip lighting that Edmundsons Electrical supplied.
I can see four, possibly five big job's coming up in the very near future -
1/ Removing the rest of the rubbish from under the main stand, there really is a lot to be shifted so we'll be hoping for more people to become involved for a morning or two in the next month or so.
2/ This is one we really do need bodies for - moving fencing, steelwork, signs etc, etc from the stewards cabin area to store in the M.A. we cant expect a couple of people to shift all of this a couple of hundred yards on their own.
3/ Possibly knocking down Vaughens old car park to enable us to close off that daft looking recess on Wilkie Rd, another big job that will need more people to chip in.
4/ Doing something with the wall of plywood at the HSE which when you take a close look at it cannot last much longer. A cheap option would be to take all the plywood off & paint what is underneath which looks like just the back of the tin sheeting that faces Holker St, so that's not too bad really.
5/ Trying to make the turnstiles a lot better looking for people coming into the ground & more comfortable for the people who work there.
Help with any of the above would be greatly appreciated & will probably take place on Sunday mornings, I'll post on here as & when it needs a prompt.
I know I keep mentioning this but there are nearly a thousand people who watch the footy & probably a hundred who read the forum on a regular basis yet we still seem to struggle to get more than the people we already have involved. It might not be everyones cup of tea, people might work on Sundays, it might just be your day off & you want to relax but we really could do with a couple more each time we're down there just to help make it that bit easier.
