We certainly are Nigel, we never had any sort of transport to shift the scrap to the weigh-in spot last week so if you have anything just let me know & we'll sort out when & where's best for you to drop it off.

Ian, there's the old tumble dryer outside the boilerhouse to go for scrap whenever you can remove it please.
I am on the case of the bin emptying as when I phoned Barrow Borough Council I was inofrmed they don't do the Industrial removal. On the side of the bins it is Sita so they will be getting a call tomorrow.
They haven't emptied the 5 smaller bins for a few weeks and they are full and the lids are not shut properly and all the loose paper is blowing around.

My car looks like that opening scene off the Beverly Hillbillies at the weekend's when I'm dropping all the stuff off at the ground!!

I speak with John Harris (a Barrow supporter for many years & who trains the steelwork apprentices in the yard) on a regular basis about the work everyone does at the ground, he's then mentioned this to one of the apprentice co-ordinators who rung me today & has offered to let the apprentices do any work that suits their level of skill for free at Holker St, probably through the college.
I think after speaking with the co-ordinator the plan would be for us/John Mackay/the Board to see what jobs they could manage in & around Holker St & set them off on it with supervision. I think this will perhaps tie in with a bit of work in/for the community type programme.
I'll be speaking to JM about this & see what we could ask them to do, obviously we would have to remember they're 16/17 year olds but it could open up all sorts of possibilities for a group of them to start & complete all sorts of jobs during the working week when others can't be there.
I don't yet know how long they would be able to commit to or even when, but either way it's a very kind offer & one that if succsessful could open the door to other trades working at the ground.

This is a really positive thread which is a pleasure to read.

Strikes me it would make a really good feature in the EM.

Perhaps they can be encouraged to get a reporter and photographer there to report on progress.

I had a look round yesterday and that area behind the stewards cabin has been transformed. What a difference willing hands can make. The rubbish there was unbelievable.
These are the jobs no one notices and it must have been hard work to shift that lot.

More stuff off Steve Leonard transported to the ground yesterday thanks to Barrowabc with his pick-up.

Looking at being down there next Sunday (depending on my back which seems to have given up at the moment, I can still point you in the right direction though ) could do with someone with a trailer or the loan of one for us to get more rubbish moved to the tip, so if anyone could give up a few hours or loan a trailer to us it'd help us out getting that messy but important job completed.

If we get the trailer we also need to get the scrap weighed in so anyone who has any bits of metal lying around just give me a shout & we'll sort out picking it up, unless you can just drop it off next Sunday. Doesn't have to be massive amounts because it'll all get thrown in the pot & it soon adds up, an old BBQ, a bike, bit's off an old engine anything.

Will also try & get Billy Childs bench sorted very shortly.

If anyone else can give up a few hours on Sunday morning just PM or a reply on here will do.

I have two old bikes as well as a few other bits n bobs. Sort the singal axel trailer and I'll bring car along and whip it away
