looking at the crossbar wall costs online . looks like average cost for 250 hollow 415 x 215 block will cost around 500-600 pound.
Can old Whitty, Tommy or Andy Leitch have a look locally through trade accounts and check these block costs..this would raise the wall to around 7 ft and I think 2 plaques pledged towards the cost already, should it go ahead
Also this will protect our fans and raise the profile with the college lads should they do this for one of their jobs...all pie in the sky at the moment as just pricing up and feasibility of it

Out of interest other than Saturdays match when will the ground be open this weekend - Friday afternoon, Sunday morning? Trying to arrange with Tommy to get the chippings to finish off the Cross Bar path.

On a point about the cladding at the Holker end the last time I saw it there is a section at the Wilkie Road end is where the back wall is lower than the rest and doesn't have any cladding on it - would it look better if it was painted blue or had some cladding put on it or has it been painted now?

We cladded past & around the old turnstile by the pop/side Holker St corner then we asked Bahamas bluebird to paint the remaining wall white.
The area you are talking about was a bit of a problem. The old structure finished about ten foot before the gate & the original plan was to make a framework to clad to - no problem. Trouble was, outside the ground a wall jutted out & it wasn't too straightforward to sort out & make look decent (especially with it being quite a visual part of the ground to passer's by)
Quick fix was for me to paint it white the same as the opposite corner......for now. That whole corner on the other side of the gate now stands out like a sore thumb but we have a few plans for it that should sort it in the coming months.

That's the problem isn't it? We sort a bad bit out then the next bit that looked ok starts to looks a mess next to it!!

The ground will look ok by 2025

Ste, I can see where you were coming from with some parts of the design with the HSE sign (although I think it serves it's purpose to the "uneducated eye")
With this in mind, could we have a talk over the coming weeks so you could give us your idea's on the big picture type signs that we are thinking of having in the changing rooms? We have some rough thoughts on what we want but with your background in your job we'd appreciate any help you can give us.

Myself & JCubb got them yesterday Tommy, I couldn't get in the big gates so they're on a trailer just by the MA. Are you & John down there this afternoon?

I'll be opening up at about 12:30 for anyone willing to paint a few perimeter walls.

Sunday morning should be on as well.

Got to the ground just after you left Ian.
Moved the stone chippings from the trailer to the Cross Bar path and happy to say its now complete well done to all involved who helped with this.



The only issues that are remaining with the path is that there is a water pipe coming out of the Cross Bar which needs a cover putting over it (see pic) and the membrane needs trimming to remove the excess material sticking out above the chippings.


In addition I also managed to get round to Kevin Crisps and collect the toilet he's donating which I've just put in the Maintenance Area for the time being. Kev also offered to donate some underpants to go with it but knowing the songs about his underpants I politely declined

That's great John, glad that's now done & dusted as it's another job that's ticked off the list. I was going to do them but Elaine ordered me to help her paint the pop side perimiter wall.

Spoke with TK today about the signage & we'll hopefully have some sort of list by next week to start replacing the boards that have been paid for.

Regarding the pipe - I think Whitty 64 has been asked to do something with that.

Whitty 69 will now be putting some lights above the path for night match's, a massive improvement in that area.

The two Whitts have moved back into their home from home - the first aid room, well the stewards end now. The work is continuing in the cabin with a sink being put in for the stewards to use. This will eventually be part of the whole cabin upgrade (just hope the stewards can keep it looking decent after the time spent on it. Mike, who will be the clean cabin assessor )

Mrssenorita was busy starting work on the frame for a door in the away directors room that we've been asked to do. He then went to Jacksons & sorted out a very (very) good price for some of the materials needed to start work in the home changing room. He then came around to my house with all the appropriate quotes & sat in the back garden with me going over the pro's & con's of various bit's of wood, my missus said it looked like a business meeting without the office

Got to admit, without (this) Tommy looking at websites & local companies to get the cheapest prices for whatever we are doing we'd have spent 25% more on materials.

Sunday morning is on for any volunteers that want to turn up & help out.
