Re: Shelton Payne
What Chris has posted from his twitter and what Bayliss is saying doesn't make sense, why has he left if he has a contract and Bayliss was begging him to stay? In these circumstances I can understand Bayliss being upset unless something else has happened?
As trublupremier says he's been one of the best players in the friendly games and its a little disappointing to lose him, but on the bright side we do have cover for that position and still have time to get replacements in.

Re: Shelton Payne
Expected him to get snapped up by a bigger club after about three competitive games. This has come a bit earlier.
Unique maverick talent and the type of personality that Bayliss wouldn't get. No doubt he'll be replaced by a "grafter".

Anyone remotely surprised by this must be remarkably dense.

Re: Shelton Payne
BBC RC said they were told it was an internal matter as to why he has left the club. So it is anyones guess what the reason is.John Very Little wrote:why has he left if he has a contract and Bayliss was begging him to stay?

Just looked on the Chorley site myself, I have found that he is a clear match winner on his day. He has however only played 4 games all season, only 2 of these were starts!!
It says the manager hasn't been impressed with his attitude of late so has left him out.
The above was taken from the Hyde forum regarding comments from the Chorley club he was loaned from. Seems to have a personality problem.
I had heard he was complaining about the amount of travelling involved but surely he must have known where Barrow was before he signed.

Re: Shelton Payne
This was ALWAYS going to happen, having a list of clubs the length he has at his age shows this.
I am just glad it has happened now before the really serious stuff starts and we have a chance to replace him.
Like many others before him, he obviously hasn't got the bottle or application to knuckle down and make a success of the obvious talents he has.
His loss not ours I would say.

Re: Shelton Payne
Lines on the sad departure of Shelton Payne recalling the happier times of his signing earlier in the summer at the Trafford Centre’s ‘Orient’ food outlet complex.
So.
Farewell then
Shelton Payne
Exciting maverick
Was your game
Where is Barrow?
You should have asked
In food hall glory
You smugly basked
And there you return
Your office lately
Not a happy meal
Then
Ultimately
E.J. Wintergreen 57¼

Think he thought Barrow was near Bamber Bridge.

Re: Shelton Payne
Morning all
I'm a Chorley fan - Shelton played for us a couple of seasons ago. He has become a bit of a ground hopper with 7-8 transfers in the last couple of seasons - I really can't see him settling down for long at any club. Was surprised to see him leave Barrow so soon, although reading between the lines on this thread, it seems as though there have been 'words' behind the scenes. Whilst nobody can deny Shelton's skill and pace, his attitude and work ethic may be questioned. I'm sure that managers will cotton onto this and eventually he will run out of clubs prepared to take him on.
By the way, Shelts signed for newly-promoted Trafford FC of the EvoStik Premier Division last night.
Any guesses how long he will last there?
Good luck for the new season!

Re: Shelton Payne
Was it not Payne who actually signed for us in the Trafford centre? That's obviously where he's got confused!ChorleyMetz wrote:Shelts signed for newly-promoted Trafford FC of the EvoStik Premier Division last night.
No wonder he thought we were a big club!
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
