arnison
Re: arnison
Think Reynolds should be given a chance as Williams lost his place in the team by getting himself sent off at Altrincham. He is not as good as I thought he would be, but then O'Donnell is not been the same player we saw in brief periods (when not injured) last season.
At least if Arnison is on his way out then we have plenty of the season left to bed in a replacement. Case of another player realising it is much easier to get a club on their door step than travel to Barrow for half the season? Remember Northwich is much closer to Manchester where Arnison is based. It was also suggested in the NWEM (see link in my previous post) when he signed, that Barrow were giving him another chance at Conference North level. Having given up on Workington (or released?) sounds like no one else at this level was prepared to sign him, kind of last chance to prove himself. He probably worked well at Workington because he had, as previously mentioned, Jonny Wright setting him up a lot.
At the moment we have a team of complete strangers that don't know each others quirks. Just a thought but maybe Bayliss realises he is not the player he thought he was and that's why we have loan players in until he can get a permanent replacement. I think Bowen has been a bit of a disappointment to some extent, although again he has hardly had much of a chance before being dropped to the bench. The team is very much a work in progress having started from scratch, and on our budget I doubt we could do much better and any replacements are not likely to be much different unless we get lucky.
If Arnison does stay I hope he gets more games and shows what he can do, all the best if he does not.

How did you guess? it must be common knowledge that the manager is crackers? thanks for the welcome anyways! doubt i will be stopping too long at the club, the travelling expenses are rubbish!!Wintergreen wrote:Welcome to the Forum Duran – thought you had a good game Saturday, just edged out of MOM by the legendary Paul Edwards.strawberry wrote:Duran reynolds could be next!
What’s wrong then - why don’t you like it at Barrow? Is it the Manager? Is it that you try to engage in honest and frank discussions and he turns violent? Feel free to comment, we're the supporters on here - we have a right to know.

Re: arnison
Why is everyone asking about why Arnison isn't playing, when Bowen has had just as little game time? Maybe Bayles just doesn't rate them as high as the current strikers in Johnson and Allen. They're only here on a month's loan, so why not utilise the resources we have whilst we can? Yeah, it could be another 'frozen out' jobby, or it could just be that Arnison isn't as good as Johnson/Allen and deserves to be on the bench.

Bayliss was quoted saying in the Evening Mail last month that Bowen could become the best signing he has ever made...

The way I look at is that they are part time and only have a few hours each week together for training which is not a lot of time. ARH and O'Donnell arrived back last minute as did a few others and Johnson on loan. It has probably disrupted any cohesion the pre-season squad was developing but it was needed, as many have said, the last few pre-season games were poor and showed the squad had weaknesses. So the reset switch was pressed just as the season was starting, they have only had 6 competitive matches and some of the players have had little time on the pitch. So Bayliss' move to strengthen the squad has probably something to do with the disjointed play we are still experiencing. They are however getting there, we have not lost to the poor sides of the league, only those at the top and we won't play them every week. If they play as well as they have been we should get at least a draw at Gainsborough on Saturday possibly a win, I hope.
I never expected us to get above mid-table and I think we are not far away from where we will likely finish the season, barring a disaster. Sadly we have to accept we are a small club with no money and can't sign the players that would like.
Allen and Rushton are here till January. Johnson (8 goals in 11 games last season) has a better track record than Arnison but his last game will be at Gainsborough this weekend, as Johnson wants to go back to prove himself. Apparently he only has a 3 month contract at Halifax due to his injury last season. Bayliss is trying to extend the loan and Johnson has not ruled out staying on but it is up to Halifax. Sutherland the winger is the other player on a months loan.A.B. wrote:Maybe Bayles just doesn't rate them as high as the current strikers in Johnson and Allen. They're only here on a month's loan

People still making excuses..
We have a really, really poor manager.
He has proven time and again that he is not good at revamping the squad. He has proved beyond question that he is incapable of getting a side to play attractive football. He has proved time and again that he is devoid of man management skills.
He constantly blames the players he signed when we don't win.
Arnison, Bowen, Parkinson, Heywood, Nicholas, Winn, Newton..
Need I go on?
How much more proof do people need that he just isn't any good at his job?

Re: arnison
Its taken a long time Reg but I've finally come round to agree with you.
I was always prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his inexperience and obvious passion for the club and the town.
But I ask myself has he learned anything in that time? Has he improved tactically or in terms of his man management?
The answer is no to both questions and whilst I worry that few others would want to take the job on due to the remoteness and travelling together with the perilous financial sate of affairs I can only see DB getting worse, football becoming even less attractive as the barricades go up and this driving more fans away.
Oh for a tactically aware good man manager with DB's passion.
Yes he has to go but where oh where will we find a replacement? There are many who will say there are loads out there but who are they who would actually want the job?

This situation reminds me of a mate. He's been seeing this bird for years, but she does his head in and has put on a fair few pounds. He says he's had enough of her all the time but keeps giving her more chances to stop being an annoying cow. Every time she reverts to type though. He's stuck in a rut.
The fact is he's worried if he dumps her, he might not find a better, slimmer bird. That shouldn't be reason enough to keep her on though.
Bayliss is our fat bird. He used to be all slim and nice but now it's gone a bit sour so it's probably for the best if we go our separate ways and get back out on the pull.

Fair assessment though.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Once again Burnzio has a way with words that rivals only the prose of Phizzer.
