Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
Good result, good banner, let's hope for some home draws
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it
Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
I really enjoyed it today..never thought much of Greig Mills until Today... better game...
don't think Boyes Cook or Rutherford have got on the pitch much since departing, was boyes just dropped or is he out on loan?
can you send a photo of yourself to john McKay ASAP whitty as he asked me today.

Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
Easy enough game for us, although they did have more half chances than I felt comfortable with early on. As the first half wore on though it was starting to look more & more under control & I didn't think there was much danger of them causing any sort of upset.
Mills has the pace of an overweight snail, even early on he was "chasing" a ball & looked like he'd just completed the K2B. On that showing he would probably clock about 15m 25s over a 100m's. He does seem quite composed on the ball but his passing is awful & very wastefull.
Thought Reynolds had a cracking game today & is well worth his starting place, Eddy was again very reliable & even had time for a little showboating - skipping around a few of their players in the second half.
I'm really starting to like the look of the midfield now & it's always nice to see some of them players shooting from outside the box.
I can't ever remember us having a penalty taker like Arnison, he looks so confident when taking spot kick's.
All in all a good result, the sun was out, £4,500 in the kitty & more pleasing still, the attendance up

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
Thought there was a much better atmosphere in the ground yesterday, just need to move on from the aggro from the last few weeks and get behind the team.

I don't belieeeeeeeve it!

Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
Edwards again showing us he is as fit as he ever has been in a Barrow shirt- he is a fantatstic LB.
Agree about Arnison- he takes a great penalty.
I think we are getting there with this side- has took a bit of tweaking, but we are starting to look decent in spells. Need it for 90 minutes.

Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
I was a bit surprised by your comment above, Dalton Bluebird, about the better atmosphere in the ground. I am not sure I can ever remember a grimmer atmosphere inside Holker Street than the first ten minutes. Even back in 72-73 when the club went out of the FL, and the crowds dropped to a couple of hundred at one stage, at least the few that remained were firmly behind the club.
It’s a sad day when you have to witness fans, who obviously love the club, feeling the need to stage a protest in that way. That’s not a criticism at all; they have every right to air their grievances, it’s just sad that we’ve got to this stage where good fans are so totally disenchanted with the way their club is being run. I couldn’t make out the chant at first but they kept it up repetitively for so long that eventually I sussed out the words. Sad, sad, sad thing, that it’s come to this, but I am so glad that they turned up to make their protest rather than do it by staying away. Mind you, I’ll bet some of the players were distracted by it as we were wobbly in the first ten or fifteen minutes before assuming control. They must be wondering what sort of club this is that they joined in the summer.
I cannot believe that even the boycotters would secretly want everyone to join the stayaway protest; after all, they have powerful feelings for the club and if literally everyone was to follow their example, and we got crowds of precisely zero, then the club dies and dies very quickly. I am sure even the boycotters must think “I’m glad there are some mugs still continuing to go, otherwise there is no chance of survival”.
The irony is that the on-the-pitch-stuff, which has obviously played a considerable part in the decline over the last 20 months (though probably not entirely, as we were no doubt running up debts even before then when we were getting decent results and reasonable gates) was entirely straightforward and pedestrian today. It’s not often in recent times that we’ve been able to win so easily and pick up a few much needed grand.

Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
I boycotted the last league game even though I'm a season ticket holder. I decided to stop being childish and go yesterday. I still think it felt better than the atmosphere at the Colwyn Bay game. As far as the protesters go, it's their right to protest but that should be it and time to get on with the rest of the season.pjdaly wrote:I was a bit surprised by your comment above, Dalton Bluebird, about the better atmosphere in the ground. Good on you, Dalton Bluebird, I am glad you decided to return.
I have sympathy and understanding with the protestors but I simply cannot see how staying away can ever be the answer. I confess I do not know the answers but it seems that staying away can only produce one outcome - - - the end of the club.

I totally agree and think we'll be lucky to get to the end of the season if crowds don't improve.pjdaly wrote:Good on you, Dalton Bluebird, I am glad you decided to return.

Re: Barrow v Ramsbottom predictions
Thought the protest by the Valencia supporters was interesting. Once their game against Swansea was under way everyone in the lower tier of the stand behind the goal walked out for the first 15 mins. Would only work at Barrow if everyone was of the same mind. There was only a dozen or slightly more involved in the protest from what I could see. Doubt it would be noticed if that many walked out of the popular side. The banner and chant for the first 10 minutes or so was probably the best and only way they could send their message.
Also at Southport Flynn has started all games but missed the last 4, I understand he is injured. Hurst has played every game and so has Baker at Tamworth and scored 3 times, twice from the spot. Mackreth at Macclesfield has only missed 2 games this season and has scored once. All having differing seasons elsewhere, but probably getting paid on time.
Hopefully Mills will pick up a bit after yesterdays decent performance against a very physical back line.
Not sure about Boyes out on loan but this season Boyes has only missed the last 3 games, not even on bench for the last one. The rest of his appearances have been mostly from the bench, he has failed to score this season. His strike partner Brodie has gone out on loan to Hereford for a month. Cook is worse off he has watched half of Grimsby's games from the bench and some from the stand. He has managed to score once as a sub. Rutherford missed 3 out of last 4 games, not even on the bench for one of them. Southport fans getting disappointed with him from what I read.mrsenario wrote:I really enjoyed it today..never thought much of Greig Mills until Today... better game...

Going back to K_BFC's post, interesting to see how ex players are doing. Grass isn't always greener but as you quite rightly point out - they're probably getting paid on time.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
