no "I" in team
We have issues both on and off the pitch so what do we do?
I suggest we start standing together, get behind the team as best we can and make the players want to play by doing this...

Re: no "I" in team
There is no "F" in Clue!! and we have a manager that this applies to.
Re: no "I" in team
I agree Old Barra- but we are getting few and far between- but he's had enormous support from Barrow fans down the years and whilst it's sad to see the situation we are in- I am still hopeful we can get that back with Bayliss still in charge. Somehow we can rebuild that. That is the biggest challenge now to overcome.
Let's go back a bit. Last season was dreadful- the season was played out against a backdrop of off field issues late payments of players, late account submissions, fines embargo's and all the rest of it. Did anyone shout for Bayliss to go then? I'm sure they did, but not as many as want him out now. The concern / frustration was voiced toward the off field issues. Relegation was secondary.
To draw a line in the sand, the only plea from fans for this season was "Please Dave, give us something to cheer about-"- However- to help achieve this he's had to build a totally new squad from scratch on a vastly reduced budget- probably not even as much as half the teams in the league, training down to 2 nights a week, and trying to convince new players to travel 200 miles round trip to Barrow- probably these players knowing that last season there was issues with late payments. It ain't going to be easy is it. . Plus the pitch.- it's still under there and it will be ready.
That's what he was faced with. He's set off with an already really difficult job with enormous constraints. An absolute uphill battle to climb before a ball was even kicked.
Now we are seeing the results of this. Fan disgruntlement and lack of anything to cheer about. Should it be any surprise given the above?
We are in a whole new situation. It may take 3 or 4 seasons to be in a position to challenge again- it may take 10, it may never happen. But Bayliss will continue to do everything he can to put us back where we all want to be. Nights like Oxford, Stalybridge, Fleetwood, Brentford can return but only if we stick together through these tough times. Don't get me wrong- I was a sick of it as the next fan on Tuesday night and it really tests the resolve and I realise it may take years yet before we get that blend again.
Yes- he's made some errors and said things to upset and anger many fans- myself included- who want's to hear the manager in fighting talk and swearing on the radio. Many have already made their minds up, that is fair enough, But sticking entirely to what is happening on the pitch this current squad obviously hasn't clicked - It probably won't. 10 games in and he is seeing the same as all of us. So he'll let some go and he'll keep at it- until next time we may get the next Jason Walker, The next Matt Henney, the next Andy Bond. That's his job to do that until he's told otherwise. I'm prepared to stick with it and ride this out. The nights like that play off final should give us all the focus we need.

Re: no "I" in team
DB never found Jason Walker,Matt Henney or Andy Bond in fact I don't think hes ever found anyone of note.Bring back Phil Wilson as chief scout
Re: no "I" in team
I think many fans will follow and agree with a lot of what you say the problem is there are other factors to take into account. the man has anger issues, loads of examples of shockingly bad man management (slags off and alienates players many of home go elsewhere and perform much better) , constantly blames everyone but himself (especially players notwithstanding they are the players he himself brought in) constantly criticises his defenders (with his defending experience he can't seem to find any decent ones) plays rubbish football and on and on and on.....
He's simply not good enough and will still be saying the same old things next year after another relegation. His win percentage since Shezza left is truly awful.
Time to go Bayles.....

No- but I'm hoping they'll all come along at once
and when it happens all will be good again. the natural football cycle. Just need to speed it up.

Re: no "I" in team
No arguments with the stats post shezza. Shez left in Feb 2012. We were well and truly on the slide then and probably survived a season extra in the Conf. But it's activities off the park that haven't helped him. On one hand the board have stuck by him (results, vote of confidence etc), but then they've made it difficult for him on the other (pitch, embargo's)? it's a totally bizarre set up. Last season in the conference was a disaster he couldn't bring anyone in and we didn't start this one much better off the park. We cut the pitch 24 hours before the first preseason!! How is that good prep for the manager?DaveP wrote:I think many fans will follow and agree with a lot of what you say the problem is there are other factors to take into account. the man has anger issues, loads of examples of shockingly bad man management (slags off and alienates players many of home go elsewhere and perform much better) , constantly blames everyone but himself (especially players notwithstanding they are the players he himself brought in) constantly criticises his defenders (with his defending experience he can't seem to find any decent ones) plays rubbish football and on and on and on.....

Re: no "I" in team
Your making far too many excuses for him Jonty.
ISC in the community liason officer-since 7th April 2009
Re: no "I" in team
I'm not making excuses and I am not enthusiastic about it. I despair at the situation. The problems go back way beyond this season. Any manager- dealing with a transfer embargo, then trying to attract players to a club against a back drop of off field concerns. He's going to struggle. We need to get that right and give him (or the next manager) a platform to succeed long term. Or else it will be just as difficult to sustain any success we may get.burnzio wrote:Can't fault your enthusiasm lad but face it, Bayliss has royally [SwearFilter] it up again and needs to go.
Many lost faith in the board well before they lost faith in Bayliss, now those same people are asking the same board to get rid of him? So how does that work?

Re: no "I" in team
Why do you think Bayliss needed to assemble a new squad this season?
It was because none of last season's players actually wanted to play for him. They'd had enough!
Some of those would have stayed at Barrow if the board had appointed a new manager.

Re: no "I" in team
Even a miracle of biblical proportions could not make Bayliss into a manager worthy of the name. Unless the BOD act now there will be no "long term"Jonty wrote:The problems go back way beyond this season. ... and many saw what a crap manager Bayliss is well before the BOD's shambolic handling of every aspect of the club's business couldn't be hidden from them any longer.Jonty wrote: Many lost faith in the board well before they lost faith in Bayliss, now those same people are asking the same board to get rid of him? They both need to go eventually. Getting rid of Bayliss first has to be the priority if the club is to have any hope of avoiding oblivion.
Re: no "I" in team
That might be a tad harsh, a number of the players will have left Barrow AFC because they weren't being paid regularly, and this wasn't the responsibility of Bayliss. Just think about this for a minute, you work for a company in Carlisle, and your wages are frequently late, neither do the the bonuses you are promised appear in your pay packet.barrowfan wrote:Why do you think Bayliss needed to assemble a new squad this season? At the end of your contract, you have the chance to join another company in Barrow, who will pay you on time, every time, and it’s two hours’ less travelling time.
Would you sign on again for the firm in Carlisle?

Plus if your boss is constantly saying your not good enough and he's going to replace you. - you would be inclined to leave
If Bayliss ever leaves a job as a motivational expert must be on the cards

I've had plenty of bosses that have have little/no respect for my work ethic or capabilities.Bingo wrote:Plus if your boss is constantly saying your not good enough and he's going to replace you. - you would be inclined to leave
