Bayliss lost the plot again.

Tactically, or has he tried to assault someone again?

Just a few seasons ago an FA Cup 4th Qualifier on a Tuesday night would have guaranteed a big crowd and an electric and hostile atmosphere at Holker Street.

Stood there tonight really brought home what a depressing state we're in. Only 800 odd there, a non-existant atmosphere, nothing to get excited about on the pitch. It doesn't even hurt much that we lost the way we did. No one seems to care anymore.

As far as i know just tactically.Taking Arnison off with the possibility of a penalty shoot out on the horizon. Mind you i couldn't see us scoring many if it had gone to pens.

Wouldn't be surprised to see DB gone in the next few weeks one way or the other.

I get the feeling even he's had enough!

First time I've seen us in a while.....it was like watching football in a morgue. No-one in the stands seemed to care who won and neither did either team. You would not have guessed a place in the first round away at a league one team was up for grabs!
As for the game itself, it was horrific, long ball after long ball going aimlessly forward towards no-one. We looked like we'd just been introduced to each other before the game. Arnison is a poacher but that is all, no pace, no skill. The new lad looks like Louis Almond mark II. Playing 4 central midfielders will get you a result away from home but at home you need some width and an outlet, we had neither. Even after all that we still should have won, the only time we put sustained pressure on Brackly only their goalkeeper and our bad finishing kept them in it. I won't be rushing back that's for sure

The Brackley managers substitutions change the way they played.......the Barrow managers substitution changed nothing......
We can never improve under this current blinkered management.
Brackley will give Gillingham a much harder game than we would have done.
Can understand why crowds are down and can see them getting lower sorry to say........time for change
As said before no atmosphere and very little to get crowd going.

Now I never thought I'd see a line like that off you

Plenty of half chances for both teams & on another night there would have been a bagfull of goals, one of those nights for both teams!

Never a pen for them off the initial contact & not even sure whether it was in the area. Can't blame the ref too much though as they get given all the time & there was some contact, unluckily for us their player lost his balance & looked the part of a fouled player - 0-1

Never a penalty for us, don't think the ref even had a clear view, crap pen.

Thought Williams looked pretty good for most of the game, same as Preston & Burns. Midfield did ok, forwards never! although that had a lot to do with their number 6 who had a cracking game & would walk into any team in this league, their whole defence looked solid.

As others have said, the desicion to take Arnison off with pens looming was strange.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I just feel very depressed about it all really. I worry we are sleepwalking to the abyss-and I don't need the told you sos from the Twitterati who aren't going at the moment to tell me that either.

We've been much worse this season- Sheridan and Eddie in evidence and for 50-60 minutes were better than them,b ut with little penetration, then they realised we weren't up to much and dominated without much end product.

Nae idea really about their penalty, I thought it was soft but giveable, as was ours. They scored theirs, we missed ours- that could happen to anyone and I felt for Sam Sheridan. Although very disappointed I'm glad we didn't have an emotional bloodbath at the end- the players didn't deserve that tonight.

If Gareth Arnison wasn't injured then that decision is lunacy when 1 down in extra time.

Dave needs to go but I would have still thought that if we'd gone to Gillingham and won tbh.

:(

Shocking decision to take Arnison off for Meechan IMO cost us the match.

The league games have to improve time for a change of direction.

I fancied Sheridan to bury it. Just one of those things.

Bottom line is we never mustered a single shot on goal in the first 50 minutes and then none at all in extra time. We don't create nearly enough chances to win games and it is no surprise we are in the bottom 3 lowest goalscorers.

Dire first half nothing to mention, both sides really poor.

2nd half Barrow took control for about 20 minutes and carved out 4 good chances all saved by their keeper in slow motion, Walker also hit the bar. Another chance was amazingly lobbed over the bar from about 4 yards, open goal waiting. It looked like we were heading for extra time when Brackley put Barrow under a bit of pressure and fashioned their first chance on the left but the shot thundered off the post and was cleared. Moments later an in swinging ball from the Brackley right, was miss judged by McMillan and hit the cross bar bounced down and across the goal mouth. It was hooked clear.

Extra time and nothing much happened, till Brackley were awarded a penalty after a player went down with minimal contact, ref indicated he was being pulled back. McMillan got a hand to the ball but could not keep it out. 1-0 Brackley. Barrow responded well and almost scored. Clear on the left edge of the area running at the byline the ball was sent across low and I think it was Rushton (?) who had his shot from 8 yards saved at point blank range. It rebounded out and with no one else running in behind the Brackley defence had time to clear. Barrow took off Walker for Meechan and the Arnison for Parkinson. Strange subs, bearing in mind if it went to penalties we had just taken off our best penalty taker. A clear trip in the box and Barrow had a penalty and but Sheridan put it too close to the keeper at an easy height for him to save. Earlier the Brackley pen taker almost made the same mistake with McMillan getting a hand to the ball but no mistake this time. The players seemed to loose heart after that and Brackley tried to keep the ball and Barrow started to give away silly free kicks trying to get it off them. ARH came on in the last minutes but with no effective strike force in front of him it made no difference.

Barrow played better with the wind behind them than Brackley did, they mostly lost control with long balls turning into really long balls as the wind carried it down the pitch. Barrow put a lot of crosses right in between the Brackley centre backs but repeatedly had no one their to put the ball in the net. Despite a really good spell of pressure in the 2nd half the same old problem reared its head, we can't score. Neither side were capable of scoring tonight so I suppose it was always going to come down to penalties, I didn't think it would.

Not a good night.

Felt sorry for those listening at home on BBC RC and for John Goodwin. What a shocking commentary tonight I certainly won't be listening on Saturday if we get him again, he hardly mentioned anything in the game. When some things were mentioned were not even happening. I can understand getting mixed up with players your not familiar with and the like, we are all doing that this season with players in and out, but it left you with no impression that a game of football was being played until Goodwin chipped in. Goodwins strength is filling in the detail and fleshing out what has just been commented on. Hardly anything of the game was commented on so he sadly had to make up his own commentary, good effort Goody. A waste of a good battery tonight. I'm not just having a go because I'm upset at the result, it truly was awful.

Walker had a shot blocked on the edge of the area in the 1st, it was low and would have been on target had the defender not stopped it. Grasping at straws I know. We did created a very good chance right after the penalty in the 1st peroid of extra time. The keeper saved it, it simply rebounded off him. That was pretty much it for on target efforts apart from the penalty.

Plenty of off target efforts some very close which would have had the keeper beaten. No score though :( . Brackley hardly created any chances and I think McMillan made only one save/block all match. The cup can be cruel, one of those nights.

Difficult to score when you take off one of your top goal scorers and best penalty taker. In hindsight a real poor decision.
