Me & Exile had a cracking shift at the ground today. Nearly two areas in the home changing rooms now complete with two coats put on, two more people down there today & it would've been finished - but there wasn't & it isn't.

Ian (red van joiner) spent the afternoon carrying on with the seats in there which thanks to him & mrssenorita look really good, as a matter of fact better than that, they're bordering on looking professional!

We had a quote off Dave Staunton (Premier Tiles) today for some special non-slip tiles to go in there but it's far more than we want to spend even though it really was a fantastic price which he tried to help us out on as much as possible. On the subject of tile's, is anyone up to a decent standard at tiling & might be able to help us out if we do decide to go ahead with that type of flooring?

A nice big "keep off the grass" sign has also been made for us by Graphix Signs, which they produced for us for nothing (I'll be paying them something anyway) Just another way in which they've helped us out lately, they've been really good to us.

Sunday morning will be on from 9:00am for anyone who wants to help out......

Jobs include -

Painting to a decent & bog standard - standard (that's two paint job's )
Someone who can throw up some shelving.
Someone who can fit/hang a door.
Someone who can fit a worktop & kitchen unit.

Or just turn up & we'll find something for anyone to do, we also don't mind anyone just popping in & having a look at the changing rooms to see just how good they now look compared to before the work started, never know, you might just get the bug

Just a reminder for anyone interested in helping out at the ground for a couple of hours tomorrow.

1/Can anyone fit/hang a door? this is needed for the home changing room.
2/Need someone to fit a kitchen unit & worktop in the changing room.
3/Anyone at all to help paint, again in the home changing room.
4/After we've done whatever we can in there we'll need a couple of people to paint the floor, which will then have some acrylic sand thrown on it for grip.

As you can see, it's all hands in the changing room to try & get as much done as possible. The draw today has sort of thrown a spanner in the works regarding the time we thought we had available to complete our work in there.

Any help you can give will help us out, we're really struggling for numbers tomorrow especially for numbers 1 & 2 (above) as we have quite a few of the regulars not available. If you haven't yet been down there yet, this is your chance to help us out massively otherwise we really are going to be thin on the ground tomorrow.

Does anyone have a few hours to spare on Monday or Tuesday as we might be able to sort something for one of them days.

Very surprisingly a decent turn-out today.

This all went on in the home changing rooms -

Peter Nichols & Exile carried on with the painting duties & I think most of the three main rooms are now finished paint-wise.
The floor still needs doing but as that takes at least two or more days to go off properly that'll be left for now.

Whitty 1969 came down to move an electric wall heater for us even though he was busy with other stuff. Now that's moved we can put some of the Trophy pictures up in it's place that Graphix are producing for us.

Me & Steve Ahern tried our best at removing & putting a new kitchen worktop in next to the sink, we gave up on the unit underneath as that proved to be well beyond our very limited joinery capabilities as there were all sorts of pipes & stuff in our way.
Not given up on that area yet though as we think Ian (rvj) or Ian (wvj) could sort that out

Klaus Moogitaal did all the more spcialised painting, which to us was the glossing of door frames - he even sanded the old paint down first!! what's that about

Elaine was just basically cleaning up all the mess we were making, she also very kindly made us all a brew. I did think she could have made us all a proper fry up though seeing as she'd been there since 8:00am where as the rest of us turned up at the more normal time of 9:00am.........but then we'd all remembered to alter our clock's

Les was also there getting all the kit's cleaned & ready for Tuseday night plus finding all the white & tactic boards that someone had hid from us.

All of mrssenorita's leatherette seating boards were put into position & they all fit very well, that was quite an achievment seeing as they were all made in the GMA & only tried together in the changing room for the first time today.
Rather worryingly we found tucked away under his tool bag a leatherette pair of underpants that looked like they'd fit a baby hippo, watch youself on them Tommy as you'll end up scratching yourself on the staples

A quick outside job that was done was Shane Brennan's big advertising board that connects him & his company with the ground maintenance volunteers, this was put up in the Wilkie Rd/Holker St corner on the pitchside wall.

Just basically cleaning up after you, are you having a laugh? I had cleaned the stand, emptied the outside bins, picked all the rubbish off the pitch that had blown all over, mopped the changing room flood up, swept the wood shaving up and cleaned the inside toilets ALL before you arrived. That's the last cup of tea I will make you. Cheek.

A couple of hours put in by Ian (rvj) & myself today as the finishing line creeps ever closer in the home changing rooms

I did my best at being a pretend joiner & tried to make a decent looking job of boxing in around the sink & worktop! Ian (rvj) had a look at my finished attempt & said I must have done this sort of stuff before.............he was definitely being very, very kind, he even managed to keep a straight face

Ian (rvj) did all the nice finishing off touches above the modules which are looking better & better with each visit, the rooms would have been no where near finished or look anywhere near as good without Ian being in there, he's done a cracking job.
Ian also put up the piece's of wood that will hold all the new blue coat hooks, even down to him putting the little rounded edges on makes all the difference.

I've got to apologise to Chris & Andy who turned up today after I said we had a job for them but because it was in exactly the same place as we were working their journey was a waste of their time - really sorry about that lads but thanks anyway.

Also without going into detail a massive thanks to Elaine who helped avert what could have been an embarrassing disaster this afternoon.
Not many would do what Elaine does for the club as was proven today. Thank's.

On a brighter note the changing room looked magnificent yesterday even though there's finishing touches, i.e the floor and the signs, need doing.
Bayles and the players think it is fantastic that the fans have worked so hard and paid for the refurbishment.
Perhaps if those that have worked on it get there early next home game you can see for yourself what it looks like with the shirts hanging up and the shorts and socks set out. I will see about a time that's suitable.

If you can make it up Ben we still need the first aid room finishing off. For any others I think it'll be all back in the changing rooms to try & get them completed.

For those who confirmed & are going on the meal arranged by Exile & his wife, meet anytime you want in the main bar in the Duke of Ed before 7:15pm.
I think we'll be there about 6:45 - 7:00pm
