Preece would be my number one choice.When Guiseley equalised on Sat. I switched RC off and tuned in to the Airbus game on S4C. Bolly and Peo at the heart of the defence and YJO throwing himself about in midfield. They appeared to be enjoying their football. Airbus are still unbeaten this season in a league which despite all the sideswipes can't be much weaker than the Skrill North. One drawback is he has already been linked with vacancies at two of his former clubs Carlisle and Stockport without any permanent moves. Is that because he didn't want to leave/priced himself out of the market etc.Lets hope this is step one on the road to recovery.

You might well be right though its not something I've heard of on my planet. Seems strange we played them in a pre-season friendly. Did he not have any say in it ?

It's alright having a new manager but according to Bayliss the budget for this season has already been spent and we know most of the squad are not good enough for this level. A manager from the Evostick and below, well, enough said.

A new manager often means better morale, at least for a while.

Give the players a chance to prove it wasn't them and see how we get on I don't see the need to follow negativity with negativity - we probably can't do much about the players anyway.

According to my Stalybridge mate, Jim Harvey would be a terrible signing as manger.

Neither were Dave Bayliss & Darren Sheridan when they took over from Phil Wilson - at around the same stage of the season and us being in a similar league position - but they still got us promoted.

I'm not saying that Matt Henney should be considered; equally he shouldn't be ruled out on footballing grounds, but his day job may prevent him wanting to be a serious applicant for the job.

For what it's worth (probably very little) - Neil Doherty. Lots of positives - local, passionate, developing youth, etc (and I still have a little crush on him after all these years ...)

Not true. The club has a monthly playing budget which any future manager can use how he sees fit.

BK on RC just before said they'd already had a couple of applications and would be taking their time to consider anyone that puts themselves forward. Also said that Meechan was a very ambitious young man, indicating he would be interested.

What about Gavin Skelton as player-manager? Apparently before he left he said that if the job ever came up he would be interested. That could be a cracking appointment.
