In all seriousness ive watched this develop from the sides. I fear that the punishments dealt to the yobs wont be what they deserve. If the police were on the ball they would have identified the culprits through the media (social network included) and got them on sunday, no major forensics are needed, just look at the mud on the trainers and that of the pitch on a wet day.

I hope the few arrested increases to ALL involved but if this country and its law is anything to go by they wont be prosecuted to the maximum.

Just to what others have said, I gave a statement to the police myself today over the phone after telephoning them last week. They are really keen to get as many people to come forward as possible so that they can build a really good case. Even if you did not see much or are unable to id anyone they are still keen to get accounts to help them build up a clear picture of what happened. I have to say that the DC who spoke to me was extremely helpful, understanding and sympathetic.

I would appeal again to anyone that was there to contact Warwickshire Police. Don't assume that everyone else has and every snippet of information no matter how trivial it may seem may prove useful. Even if it is just regarding your feelings regarding what you saw it is still helpful. Its just a little bit of time to try and make sure that the idiots who did this get the punishment they deserve.

I also made sure I put across the point that I don't think that adequate preparation was made for the game though I am also contacting the FA separately about that.

ATHERSTONE MATTERS

Association

The Police investigation and prosecutions are separate to the football
matters involved (as to what happened at the Atherstone United v Barrow AF
Cup game), as this was The FA Cup and Atherstone Town FC who were charged
with spectator misconduct, I requested that The FA dealt with case rather
than a Birmingham County Football Association (BCFA) Commission. As a result
the case was found proven the club were censured and warned as to their
future conduct and fined GBP350. Their appeal deposit was forfeited.

If Atherstone were fined only £350 for what happened at the match it is a disgrace. They did nothing to protect us and were failing in all aspects of duty of care responsibilities that day.
They had experienced similar behaviour in a previous round v Coalville so it can't have been totally unexpected.

Did the FA take into account the fact that when the police were summoned by 999 calls from Barrow fans being assaulted, they were refused admission to the ground by the club? I was told this by a police officer outside the ground when I left, fearful of my own safety, well before the end of the game.

The incident is being dealt with by the CID as serious violent disorder, yet the police were unable to deal with this at the time. The stewards on duty were clearly unable to cope with the situation, something that Atherstone FC seemed quite content with.

The police are denying that happened so no-one will get into trouble for that.

Not one for seeing clubs go to the wall, but £350 is risible.

Next time we play a team bigger than us from the Midlands, perhaps we should invade the park and attack loads of random folk in the away end, invade the dressing room, threaten players with poles and lob pyro on to the park.

A small fine will follow, surely?
