Are you sure?Van Der Nipper wrote:Edmondson was on the original shortlist and was in Barrow on Monday for his interview.
He and a mate normally come to Barrow in early December each year to do their Christmas shopping and then go for tea at a cafe nearby.
They normally then park near Holker Street and look wistfully at the ground before sighing and driving off sadly into the dark...

Indeed. The two of you have been quite vociferous on that point.onered wrote: all the reds fans wanted him sacked not only we are getting shot of him you are paying for that

I know a clubs budget is based on more than just attendance, but I could guess 6-10 other Conf North teams with smaller average attendances than Workington, so what exactly makes them a small club in this league who have performed miracles to survive?

Re: New Manager
As things stand they've got the 7th lowest budget in the league, but I suspect their figure may have been swelled slightly by the visit of Stockport County. Out of those with lower, Brackley, Oxford City, and to some extent Vauxhall Motors have external funding, and one is Gloucester who are doing even worse then them (and us). Add to that the difficulty to attract players to the area they no doubt face (same as us, but arguably an even less attractive club to play for), the struggle for sponsorship they probably face from Carlisle, the lack of decent cup runs they've had recently, and the seeming lack of infrastructure/corporate/commercial side (sound familiar?) probably gives them one of the 2 or 3 lowest budgets in the league.Leo wrote:I know a clubs budget is based on more than just attendance, but I could guess 6-10 other Conf North teams with smaller average attendances than Workington, so what exactly makes them a small club in this league who have performed miracles to survive?

Not too sure what that means "7th lowest budget" "swelled slightly by Stockport County"Ste Story wrote:As things stand they've got the 7th lowest budget in the league, but I suspect their figure may have been swelled slightly by the visit of Stockport County.
I dont get all this "he's done miracles keeping them where they are" They still play crap football, their gates are dwindling, they want him out........what's the difference to that & what we had with Bayles?
This is one massive gamble by the board.
And I can have tem views but still support him when he finally takes over - which I will.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
