With the resources Edmo had at Workington I thought he did a cracking job, was let down massively when players left for the money late on in pre-season.

Pretty much what Walsh (Workington director) said on BBC RC on Saturday. He felt that he was responsible for keeping them in this league as they were really punching above their weight, but with players leaving this season he was up against it.

Strangely when pressed in that interview on local players - Edmo's response was "People keep telling me there is local talent but I just don't see it" so it remains to be seen what his plans are for introducing local players.

He's a good bloke, very approachable and the players seem to like him in fact sometimes he's maybe too matey with the players. There's no doubt he did well in keeping us in this league punching above our weight - but his teams play dire football, hoof ball is the only way to describe it - enjoy!!

On locals - What about Arnison, May, Hindmarch - to name but three, and I'm sure there's more? Aren't they all West Coast/Carlisle?

imo hoof ball is quite the norm in this league, all edmo was doing was fighting fire with fire-if you cant beat em join em, cos sometimes that's all you can do, which doesn't mean he's not capable of better.

I think Edmo is a cheap and easy option that will backfire on our board of directors who have let the fans down once again. Why they think a man with none or very little form is going to improve our statute is behond me. May as well have kept Bayliss.

Cheap maybe, easy definitely not. Look at the reaction he's getting on here and in other quarters. It would have been very easy for the board to pick someone expensive or with a bit more "pedigree" to keep the fans quiet and happy, but in the long term is that what's best for the club.

This is true, but he inherited all of those players you mention (bar Hindmarch) and most of the other locally based players including Johhny Wright, Lee Andrews, Anthony Wright, Gary Rowntreee, Aaron Taylor, Adam Collin etc etc that have been the spine of our team for the last few seasons. I think there is local talent good enough to play in this league, well it proves there must be as our team has beeen almost 90% locals the last few seasons and we've stayed up albeit with some struggles. But Edmo inherited those local players and he hasn't really brought any new locals in. Most of our locals are now either past their peak like Kyle may or have buggered off to Celtic Nation and our two strikers left for work relocation reasons.

You will also find his use of subs is both baffling and infuriating.

Where he does excel is getting loan players in - he seems to have decent contacts on that front.

And until the Celtic Nation bubble pops, he'll find it difficult to attract the best locals, we had some trialists over the summer and Celtic Nation nicked the best of them, you just have to look at some of the players they've signed and the money their chucking around £600 a week, plus there's much less travelling for them. Until they go pop, they will cherry pick the best locals

A) Is clueless

B) Has too much time on their hands
We're a club in deep, deep trouble and that's reflected in the standard of applicants for the previously 'vacant' post
Let's give the lad a great reception and whatever side he puts out our full support on Saturday

Point "A" what a ridiculous statement! So Edmo is perfect is he? he must be according to you! And all the people who have an opinion that isn't the same as yours are clueless are they?

Point "B" I'll back Edmo 100% now he's our manager but that doesn't mean I didn't have reservations about him but that in your world means I have too much time on my hands!! Try telling my missus that.

And how do you know the standard of applicants? only four, possibly five were known out of twenty or more.
