Maybe it was expecting too much to get a result today. They've gone second with that win. Celebrated like a bunch of whoppers for each goal but that's a team near the top with confidence against a team at the bottom with none.

Thought there was some improvement but again when we go a goal behind that's it. Not sure how he's going to strengthen the team but I think we are crying out for wide men and a big strong Cook type striker to play alongside Arnison. For starters.

The roller coaster ride that is supporting Barrow. Don't think it can get much lower at the moment.

I thought Gainsborough and last week was as bad as it could get, today was right up there with them. Can anyone remember four consecutive home matches with an aggregate score of 0-13. Solihull today won without getting out of first gear, if they had put their mind to it it could easily have been another Gainsborough or worse. The manager says he will bring in new players, if his first two signings are anything to go by, god help us. an American collage footballer and a player from 3 leagues below us. We need at least 6 experienced players for key positions through out the team. Edmo said in his after match interview that there was very little money available for players. Being bottom at Xmas and with 6 of the next 8 matches away from home does not look good especially with being 5 points adrift of safety already.

Burns tried hard as ever, in many ways as big a hero as anyone in recent years.

Arnie is being played the wrong way (not Edmo's fault, I could see what was being tried, they are not his lads) Wukkies were right he needs a minder on the park.

New lad tried but was out of his depth in the middle of this

I don't like the fact the new manager hasn't been near anyone post match.

Basically we need 10 wins. We must get 2 against the Wukkies who are as shit as we are. Even in the state we are in we will bring a few up there Boxing Day- I think we've got a Christmas in us and we owe it to ourselves (NOT THE PLAYERS- [SwearFilter] OFF TO THEM) to get behind the club, because we are Barrow. we represent the town, apathetic as it is and we are a better support than most if not all in the non league- don't let yourselves drop because we are being betrayed.

I can't think of anything else to say :( but we need to fight, now.

Barrow v Solihull Match Thread

Don't know what it was about today in particular but that was the most depressed I've ever felt watching a game at Holker Street. I think it's probably the realisation setting in that we are probably going to go down, I never thought we'd ever drop below the level we're currently at but I just can't see a way out of it. It may sound dramatic but it honestly feels like we are witnessing the death of the club as we know it, an attendance of 454 for crying out loud. Unfortunately there is no quick fix either, a lot of the people staying away have been lost for good and I can't see crowds getting back to the level we want them to be at for a long long time if at all. The blame for that lies squarely with the board of directors, they still seem to be under the mistaken belief that people will come back if results improve but it goes far deeper than that for a lot of people. The club is well and truly knackered!

On the pitch, I don't think there is any doubt that this is the worst Barrow side I've ever seen. Pre-season I allowed myself a bit of optimism, but christ knows why. Ability wise the squad is appalling, and more worryingly they just don't have the heart to get us out of it. We just went through the motions second half today, there was no closing them down, no getting stuck in, no battling, no anything. Looking at the squad man for man I struggle to say anything positive about most of them.

Tony McMillan - Massively overrated by some, has he actually had a good game for us yet? Sweeps up well, but I'm yet to see him pull off a really good save or put in a really commanding performance.

Andy Burns - One of the very few positives. He's had two poor games these last two weeks, but never stops trying and does look promising.

Paul Edwards - A shadow of the player we had in 2010. Legs have gone, past it and doesn't look like he cares much.

Danny O'Donnel - Very very very very very very very shit!

Robbie Williams - Even worse than Danny O'Donnell.

Duran Reynolds - Did think he was half decent, but I think he's made to look that way because he's playing alongside such a dreadful partner at centre-half. He's been a huge disappointment, not good enough by a long way.

Paddy Lacey - Not sure what his role is, I think it's supposed to be as a midfield enforcer in the Robin Hulbert mould but he's absolutely shocking at it. Looks like he's running in treacle and can't pass a ball to save his life.

Sam Sheridan - Another rare positive, one of the few real footballers we've got. The only worry I have is that his head seems to have dropped recently.

Alex Ray Harvey - Horrible horrible little [SwearFilter]. Thinks he's far better than he is, hasn't got a shred of fight in him and just isn't interested. The sooner he leaves the club the better.

Richard Davies - I can't decide what I think about him, he's just there but doesn't seem to ever do anything good or bad.

Dan Parkinson - Not seen enough of him really, but what we have seen hasn't been particularly impressive.

Jamie Allen - Why are we falling over ourselves to renew this lad's loan? He's shit, looks like he should be good but just isn't. Got a bit of pace but is far too weak and just isn't very good on the ball. Tries hard but thats not enough on it's own, I'd be happy to see him go back to Fleetwood.

Gareth Arnison - Feel a bit sorry for him, always works hard and his record tells you that given chances he will score goals. Problem is we aren't creating anything at all and he's not the type of player who is going to make things happen for himself.

Nick Rushton - How he isn't getting in the side ahead of Jamie Allen is beyond me. Has a tendency to sometimes go missing in games but has shown flashes that suggest there is a good player in there.

Craig Radcliffe - Started off well in his first couple of games but has largely been shit since then whenever he's played. Not good enough.

Alex Meechan - Pointless as a player, offers absolutely nothing when he plays. Hopefully he's more useful on the training ground and in the dressing room because as a player he's a waste of a wage.

As for the two new lads, not a clue how good son of god is but I was relatively impressed by Ted Cribley today. Showed a decent touch and looked good on the ball, not sure how much he's going to be up for the battle ahead though.

Man for man it's just an appalling squad of players, and looking at it there is little wonder we're in the position we're in. Edmondson has got a near impossible job on his hands, I really can't see how we're going to get out of the position we're in.

The club is just an incredibly depressing place to be, and I'm having to force myself to keep going. It really is getting harder and harder though and I don't blame the stay aways one bit.
The best thing I have read on here what a post absolutely spot on mate.

I don't think he's overated at all. He's as good as most keepers in this league, but as a keeper you simply cannot keep letting get down by rank bad defending time after time after time.
Kieran wrote:Andy Burns - One of the very few positives. He's had two poor games these last two weeks, but never stops trying and does look promising.
Totally agree, one 60-40 (against) ball this afternoon he never took his eye off & actually won the ball in the end, that's what we need right now.
Kieran wrote:Paul Edwards - A shadow of the player we had in 2010. Legs have gone, past it and doesn't look like he cares much.

Cannot agree with the last part of that Kieran, perhaps not the player he was but not caring...no. I did hear he & McMillan were two of the players who gave the rest of the squad a few home truths in training after the 0-6 two week ago.
Kieran wrote:Danny O'Donnel - Very very very very very very very [SwearFilter]!

Robbie Williams - Even worse than Danny O'Donnell.
Agree, Williams is a big let down but O'Donnel even more so, was expecting much better of him.
Kieran wrote:Duran Reynolds - Did think he was half decent, but I think he's made to look that way because he's playing alongside such a dreadful partner at centre-half. He's been a huge disappointment, not good enough by a long way.
Bit harsh. I think Reynolds could be a decent player with the likes of a McNulty or Jones alongside him, he's just looking bad with his partner(s).

Agree.

Biggest disappointment of our season (player-wise) Never make it in the game with the attitude he seems to be taking. Has everything at his feet but will go no where if he thinks he's better than having to put in a bit of fight when it's needed.
Kieran wrote:Richard Davies - I can't decide what I think about him, he's just there but doesn't seem to ever do anything good or bad.

Agree, neither doing it for me.

I don't think we could do much better. A couple of times today he looked like he put in more effort that half of the rest of them put together.
Kieran wrote:Gareth Arnison - Feel a bit sorry for him, always works hard and his record tells you that given chances he will score goals. Problem is we aren't creating anything at all and he's not the type of player who is going to make things happen for himself.
First half in particular he was so isolated it was frightening, he's not a target man so how the [SwearFilter] is he going to get in position, win the ball, beat three/four players & score? he's crying out for someone alongside him.

I like Rushton, not sure about Radcliffe, Meeks was obviously brought in for his contacts by DB & look where they've got us, just another reason why Bayles had to go.

Edmo's immediate shopping list has to be one, possibly two C/B's. One good ball winning midfielder. A winger (or two) & a strike partner for Gareth............best of luck with that lot.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Well even when we were/are shite, at least the manager would come in the X Bar after and talk to fans or at least sot with players etc. Not a big thing but I would prefer it, just M.O.

Stop talking up the players too, they are pish.

I think he came up last week. Agree with what you're saying that he should come up after ever game though.

We wanted to wait until January as people have other stuff on over Xmas. I know it's a long wait.

Our Christmas local derby next year (if we're still here) could be against Kendal Town!

They are on a rich run of form at the moment.
