Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Thanks Al & Daz for the latest contribution for storage, greatly appreciated.
Are they our's to do with what we want with them?

Re: Ground Maintenance Area

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Good little write-up that by the EM.
Hopefully a few supporters will see it who don't use the forum & perhaps we'll get a few new faces down there as happened after the last Mail article, might even get a few more donations off others rather than having to rely on forum users all the time - you must get [SwearFilter] off with us asking for money every week!
I can only appologise for the photographic quality of the volunteers on the day but it's a small gene pool we rely on
I tried my very best Hugo Boss catalogue pose to great effect I thought
I did try to improve what we had on the day but thats what turned up & what you see is what we got - you can't polish a turd.
Wintergreen looks very menacing with his wooden thing in his hands
looking like he's auditioning for a camp Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels re-make.
John M turned up in his best volunteering jumper which he's had since Wham topped the charts with Last Christmas (84) & if you look carefully at the video, George Michael can be seen wearing one similar in the snowball throwing scene
Whitty 1964 & Gareth look like they robbed two pairs of oversized shoes from a shoe bank.
At least mrssenorita was away that day.......every cloud has a silver lining

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
The wall that was falling down has now been knocked down. The toilet that was affected by this has had a temporary cover put in place but should be getting bricked back up tomorrow morning. The rest of the wall is going to take some sorting though.
We had a walk around the ground this morning & nothing else appears damaged so the ground stood up quite well to all the wind we had yesterday.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Not really a planned visit to the ground but we thought we'd make the effort as apparently the wall (or lack of it!)could cause problems with the police & saftey side of things with Wukkie coming to town (all three of them) & it wasn't ideal having a bit of board covering the missing breeze blocks adjoining the toilet.
Shows what I know about building walls....Tommy abc (good to have him back
) & Ian Red Van Joiner have made a really good start on rebuilding the wall, at least the toilet area is now back up & I wouldn't imagine the rest will take too long weather permitting & of course Tommy & someone else being available.
I just spent the whole morning tidying up the GMA AGAIN!! It's actually a good thing to do as every time it gets done we seem to find new tools, electrical bits, plumbing odds & ends....it's unbelievable how much we've got in there now!
We're now trying to make a whole area for the electrical & plumbing gear to be stored then hopefully some sort of area just for the woodwork side of things, this is on top our the general work area which takes up the most space & the paint area & the storage area.
Exile was litter picking after all the recent wind & yesterdays game, got to say it's really good seeing people going out of their way to use the bins on match days.
Gareth was down there doing his pitch stuff as I think the forecast is pretty poor tomorrow. Gareth also took Tommy to get his cement mixer for the wall - so not just our groundsman, pretty much a volunteer odd jobber like the rest of us, now we wouldn't have got that last year.
Les had all the kits hung out to dry & a couple of other people were pottering about - all good to see on a nice crisp morning.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Might try a Sunday morning this week if the interest is there, drop me PM or just a post on here if you fancy putting in a few hours in the ground from about 9:00ish.
Apart from the good result on the pitch yesterday we had one in the cross bar as well (apart from my win on the beer raffle
) Two new victi......I mean volunteers, another painter & decorator & a plasterer so hopefully you'll see their names starting to pop up on here in the near future. And so they can't change their minds.....their names are Cols & Windy
Thanks to Mike Wilson for volunteering Cols & the alcohol for sorting Windy out:lol:

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Although we had a few offers (certainly enough to do jobs down there) we've decided to give it a miss this week. If anyone wants to still go down I'm sure some will be there so there's always things to carry on with.
We're looking at getting better organised this coming year & being able to gain access to parts of the ground where we at the moment don't have keys for.
It'd be a start if we could try & get the names of people during the lead up to weekends so we can have some sort of plan as to what jobs we can carry on with rather than just throwing jobs in peoples faces on Sunday mornings.
Ian (RVJ) will need someone to help carry on with the press box.
Tommy abc will need help with the wall.
Myself & Mrssenorita will be tied up for a while on getting this segregation fencing sorted.
We need a proper painter & decorator to finally finish the first aid room.
The garage needs putting back together.
New gate on the pop side needs to go uo with all the work that is going to entail.
Vaughans car park wall nedds to come down & be rebuilt to close the gap off.
Two really big jobs are the two new toilet blocks especially the pop side one.
Another massive job will be one that people seem to be asking for quite a bit - decorating & sprucing up the X Bar. This will have to be done in about four stages though & we will need help on it.
Finishing off the new shop on the pop side.
Sorting out the guttering on the pop side
These are on top of all the bits & bobs that require work. If you feel like you can help on any of these even if it's just a morning or an afternoon, or if your retired & want a little job during the week it all helps & is quite enjoyable.
