Calm down Chris! All he's saying is there is still a long way to go, and he's right. The last 4 results have been excellent and we're playing with much more purpose and belief, but we're far from out of the woods yet.barrowfan_chris wrote:Is there any need? lets enjoy it for a change can only beat what is in front of you.Jock wrote:Don't get too excited over the 3 wins in the last fortnight. Wukky 3 points from last 36 and Staly 2 points from last 21!!!!!. Some tough matches coming up and we will have to be at our best to get the points we need from our last 20 games.

McConville didn't score---thank God. It was their sub, No 14. I don't know his name but he had the weirdest boots. They were a shocking pink colour and looked more like a basketball type of footwear.andyg wrote:
McConville got one back but it was only a consolation.

Paul Ennis.
Re: Stalybridge Match
For the first time this year I would struggle to name a MoM, but for the right reason. Man for man everyone put a shift in last night a good all-round team effort . Now the team are gathering momentum to climb the safety ladder, a great nights entertainment!

I was calm but like I said you can only beat what is in front of you and we have done so far.Kieran wrote:Calm down Chris! All he's saying is there is still a long way to go, and he's right. No need for the negativity yes they are poor sides but I still enjoy a good win last night was a good win.

Only our second win on the road this season too. I know we're not turning into worldbeaters overnight but I reserve the right to enjoy it when we play well.barrowfan_chris wrote:I was calm but like I said you can only beat what is in front of you and we have done so far.Kieran wrote: Calm down Chris! I think it's the massive change in attitude and approach to games which is the biggest cause for optimism. Gainsborough seems a long time ago now, and whilst I'm sure there'll be plenty of blips around the corner, one cannot help but feel renewed belief that we can get ourselves out of the hole into which we have sunk.

Re: Stalybridge Match
andyg's match summary is pretty much spot on (apart from Stalybridge goalscorer). Stalybridge are the worst team I have seen at this level, but we totally dominated and were very good at closing down when not in possession, winning the ball back, and generally showing determination and desire. I was a bit concerned at half time that we hadn't created any good chances (apart from the free kick that hit the bar) but we put that right in the second half. The first goal was a joke - I can't remember exactly what happened, but I think the keeper attempted to dribble, fell over the ball and ended on his backside, and Rushton only had to avoid collapsing with surprise in order to walk the ball into the empty net.
Parkinson looked good when he came on, maybe deserves some more match time but there's no-one you could justifiably leave out based on this performance. All played well. The test will be to reproduce this form against the more difficult opposition we will face in the next few games.

Yeah I've noticed that ever since his appointment Edmondson has been nothing but upbeat and positive in his comments to the media. Compare and contrast to Bayliss who took every opportunity to slag off the players effectively saying the results had nothing to do with him.Big E wrote:I think it's the massive change in attitude and approach to games which is the biggest cause for optimism. If you have a manager who knows which of his players need a kick up the arse and which need a hand around the shoulder it makes a world of difference to their confidence and self belief.

One of the top rules of 'man management' unlike Bayliss who growled at and bullied players and blamed everybody but himself.

Evening Mail went to print with McConville as the scorer. Stalybridge match report says it was Ennis as well as the results page on the official conference website.Richard Ingham wrote:Paul Ennis.
