Not the prettiest of victories - the strong wind made sure of that, and the mixture of sleet and rain that started falling just as the game started didn't help. But another Barrow awayday, and another three points as the unprecedented run of seven successive away wins continued; the last time we lost on our travels was at Guiseley, a full three months ago.

The wind did play a part in Phil Marsh's eleventh minute goal, however, a lofted shot from well outside the area that caught Oxford 'keeper Scott unawares; only when he realised that the ball was heading into the back of the net did he decide that he needed to do something - like fall over! One to watch out for on Youtube.

Despite having the benefit of the wind, Oxford's main tactic seemed to be to pass the ball back to Scott as often as possible, and their attacking ambitions were limited.

After the interval Oxford had the better of the earlier exchanges - and decided that passing back to their goalkeeper wasn't the most sensible of tactics - but Barrow weathered the storm, in both senses, with McMillan being called on to make a couple of good saves to keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet. At the other end, Barrow slowly realised that shooting on sight was the best option, with a strong wind and an unsteady-looking 'keeper who managed to trip over the ball at one stage; thankfully for him it had already gone out of play. He did make a few good saves, though.

Barrow's best chance of the half came from a Sam Sheridan shot which hit the foot of the left-hand post, bounced along the goal line, then went out for a goal kick on the opposite side. Quite how it didn't go in .....

So not the best performance to watch; the condidions made good football impossible. But another three points in the bag as the climb up the table continues.

A good win, nice little club serving shit beer. And credit to the girl behind the bar she refunded us for the poor alcohol.
Anyway,game kicked off with a bit of a breeze blowing against us, we took control early on on and eventually scored with a shot/clearance witch looked like it was going to end up in reading but the wind caught it and put it n the back of the net 1-0 barrow.
I think we just played the conditions better and controlled the play, Oxford were just a poor side full of 6,6 big lads whom tried to kick us off the pitch. And number 2was a candidate for tom dales programme splash, the diving talentless idiot,
First time I've seen us win this season, everyone gave 100 per cent but Lacey and burns were my mom.
Don't know what attendance was but we must have come close to being half of it.

Awesome evening that was worth the admission price for the comedic goal alone. Great atmosphere from our supporters, a real feel-good factor at the moment that is a contrast to what we had a couple of months ago. Not a great game but we were easily the better side and a thoroughly deserved 3 points despite our shot-shy second half with a gale force wind behind us ....

Indeed. I looked at the BBC web site just as the game was finishing and they definitely showed we had 33 points going into the game (although I thought it didn't feel right) and did the calculation from there. Apologies all.
