Re: GMA funds
£25 off the Father-in-law & £10 off anon
Total -£1,290.58
Six weeks to raise the extra £710 which will get the matching 2k off Shane.

Re: GMA funds
Would it be worth trying to run a bucket collection at a home game in an attempt to near or hit this target?

Re: GMA funds
We already have buckets out for the Floodlight Fund in the bar and on reception but are hoping to get them into the ground as well for the next game.
As worthy a cause as the GMA is and the very generous offer from Shane, there has to be a limit to the fundraising at some point as it is already having a negative impact on the income the BDF has been receiving as monies are split various ways.

Fully appreciate that, Rich. Keep up the good work and hope to see you at a game in the near future.Richard Ingham wrote:We already have buckets out for the Floodlight Fund in the bar and on reception but are hoping to get them into the ground as well for the next game.

Re: GMA funds
Maybe if this investment deal doesn't come off.
We should then put all our fund raising efforts into the floodlight fund afterall no floodlights = no football at Holker street.

For me that's spot on. The floodlights are in real need of money spent on them, certainly need to be a focus area.barrowfan_chris wrote:Maybe if this investment deal doesn't come off.

Re: GMA funds
We've tried very hard not to cross the line with what the BDF do or even affect funding/money that the club would target. The only time we've come near (directly) is when we asked the BDF if we could put the collection tin in their shop which they very kindly let us do as it was a one off & money for the roller fund, something that perhaps the BDF would have helped the club out on previously.
I totally understand that it might affect the BDF's takings at times but the main amounts we've received are from Exile (who might not have donated so much without the GMA starting) The NSC, the betting syndicate lads who halved their money between us & the BDF, & Shane. When Shane offered us the potential £4,000 I said to him as generous an offer as it is we couldn't take that much as that amount could go to the club, his answer was - he's already paid for three advertising boards & if we don't take it no one gets it - hand snapped off!
As Chris says, if the potential takeover fails or it looks as though we are taking money from other area's (BDF or floodlight appeal) we'll quite happily stop taking donations to allow funding to go back into them areas.

Re: GMA funds
Just had confirmation this morning of another very, very generous offer. "An old Barrovian from the 50's now living in Wiltshire" is donating £100 per month into the £ for £ account.
I think he's leaving it open until he decides to close the offer, whether that's for the remainder of the season or longer I'm not sure at the moment.
The total now stands at £1,410:58p
Thank you very much "old Barrovian"
As usual, all monies raised will 100% be used on ground maintenance.

Re: GMA funds
£104 off scrap metal that we've had given over the last six months. We wont be putting that in the £ for £ offer though as I think Shane meant purely money donations, still a nice addition to the funds though.

Re: GMA funds
£50 in the kitty off a lad (this is true) who wanted a fridge/freezer & a hoover - we had one each of these donated to us to sell on months ago, the total now stands at £1510:58p
I was offered £20 for the kitty on Saturday but turned it down as we think it's only fair that until the ownership of the club is decided we'll stop taking any more donations.
(the fridge/freezer & hoover were different as they were helping someone out & we wanted rid of them)

Not sure I understand why. Can you please explain?spirit of 1990 wrote: I was offered £20 for the kitty on Saturday but turned it down as we think it's only fair that until the ownership of the club is decided we'll stop taking any more donations.
