Not sure I understand why. Can you please explain?
Because any ground improvements will only benefit Mr Casson if the vote goes in his favour not us, the members and fans. So if Casson's going to buy the club and the land why should we contribute to it if only he will benefit. It will be his ground, let him pay for any improvements.
It all comes 'round again.

Basically, yes.

As I've already said somewhere, donations have virtually dried up over the last month or so (understandably) & this is more than likely the reason. If the takeover doesn't go ahead it'll be no problem firing this thread back up to remind people donations are being accepted once more.

Very similar situation to the ground maintenance work, we're carrying on for the time being but not sure where we'd fit in if Paul Casson gained control of the club.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Ridiculous aint it ? What will happen to the money if Casson does get voted in ? People donated it for the ground to be maintained.

I hope this doesn't make the GMA team vote no because they might not be needed.

All money donated for the maint of the ground will be spent on the ground.
My vote will be going Mr Casson's way whether he wants the maint team or not.
The ground needs major funding, The debts need paying off, We need to invest in the team and the future.
We can't carry on like we are.

Neil, there is an alternative to the funds just being thrown at the ground if the PC bid goes through & that is part of the discussions that about a dozen people are involved with atm (nothing to do with the GM volunteers before all sorts of accusations start getting thrown at us) Even if anything comes of these talks we'll have to ask anyone who has donated money if they're happy with the plan but I honestly can't see why people would be against it.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

You have to be just about THE most negative poster on this forum! You continually just look for posts to fire a snide remark at.

"People donated it for the ground to be maintained" Read my post above. Such a big decision regarding the funds will be spoken about with the people who donated the money in the first place.

Your last sentence is probably (no, is) the most stupid statement I have ever read on here, seriously.

"I hope this doesn't make the GMA team vote no because they might not be needed" Have a [SwearFilter] word with yourself!! I don't know of one of the volunteers that will not be voting for anything other than to accept PC's offer.

I've seriously really enjoyed doing what we've done at the ground (as I would suggest have most, if not all of the others have also) but do you HONESTLY think that any of us wouldn't vote for what seems like a perfectly good offer to take the club & ground to another level just because we want to spend a morning down there building a shit house, emptying bins or humping crap into a skip?

FYI - as things stand, I will be voting to accept.

Ian my post was in reply to Nigel and Patrick It just so happens that he quoted your reply. The first point I made was a genuine question to Nigel who posted saying there would be no benefit to Barrow fans and that Casson should pay for any ground improvements. This implied that the money wasn't going to be used for ground improvements so I asked. The second one was a genuine question that me and a few others have thought. Cheers for answering.

In exactly the same way that any improvements to my house benefit me (financially) which is exactly why I wouldn't expect you to make a contribution if I decided to stick on a conservatory even though you'd be quite welcome to come and sit in it and have a drink.
It all comes 'round again.

Correct, & just the reason I wrote "until the ownership of the club is decided" but you still decide to pick me up on something so petty!

The GMA funds topic has just under 8000 views, the GMA topic well over 100,000 & between them have raised over £15,000 with donations from all over the world & not a single peep out of you - whether thats turning up to put a shift in, donating money or tools or a positive post about 60-70 people putting thousands of hours in to improve the ground.
I mention not taking donations for a couple of weeks till we find out whether the volunteers actually have a place in PC's new set-up (if succsesful) then what happens? you crawl out from the woodwork & use two of your fifteen posts to complain about £20.

If his takeover bid fails, we'll still be there taking donations & turning up at the ground (I'll even hunt that massively important £20 down & if I can't find the man, I'll put it in myself just so you sleep easier)
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I agree Khayman is possibly the most negative poster on this forum! and I'm not talking just about this topic!!
