Re: GMA funds
GMA is volunteerism at it's finest regardless of what happens nobody can take away what's been done / accomplished. I'm sure PC is astute enough to know the value of such groups and I would be surprised if much changes in this area should his proposal be successful.

Re: GMA funds
We've recently had two meetings with Paul Casson (one after his forum talk & one last night) regarding the volunteers at the ground. Both meetings were attended by representatives of the of the GMA volunteers, Paul, Jamie, Austin & Bob Kett. Paul went through some of his (very) ambitious plans for the ground ranging from work needing doing as a priority (floodlights) to plans for the future.
We now have the nice problem of having some funds left in the kitty that were donated to maintaining the ground. What we have left doesn't touch the sides with what needs doing after seeing the structural report he's had done. As far as we can see we have two options with what to do with the funds -
1/ Donate all of it to the newly formed S/T (our preferred option)
2/ Use it to carry on with small jobs around the ground.
I personally think (as I have also donated money) that what we have in the kitty won't make any difference whether it's there or not, it's completely overshadowed by what Paul is talking of spending on Holker St.
The S/T which is looking likely to cover all groups - BDF, GMA volunteers etc will make far more use of the remaining money.
Ideally we would like to have found some way of returning %'s to the people who donated but obviously that simply cannot happen. So, we would like to know off anyone who has donated money their opinion.
We are also open to any other suggestions you might have.
Can I also say a massive thank you to anyone who has given & trusted us with their money. I honestly cannot believe that I've had complete strangers come up to me with £10-£20-£50-£2,000-£5,500 & e-mails from Australia, America, Hong Kong offering even more cash. It'll seem quite strange coming home from games with less money in my pockets than when I went out!!
Thank you all once again.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: GMA funds
Ian now that your seeing the new owner on a regular basis I wonder has he a policy for dealing with the gypsy curse? I know some might scoff at this but it has been a historic problem hanging over the club and perhaps now is the time to deal with it once and for all.
Maybe one of those fortune teller ladies from Blackpool would be tempted for a five figure fee to come up in a horse drawn caravan and lay the curse to rest once and for all. I'm sure that would be a good start and probably good PR for the club - the national TV and media would be all over it.

Could we not just wait until the fair returns in the summer! We might be able to get some tarmac laid as well as some pegs for LesWintergreen wrote:Ian now that your seeing the new owner on a regular basis I wonder has he a policy for dealing with the gypsy curse?
