Should be no problem Neil, they'll just have to stop while we carry stuff to the press box across the pitch.whitty1969 wrote:Ian, There is the U14 Furness Cup Final on at Holker Street on Sunday morning 11am KO Hawcoat Park v Holker OB

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Quite a busy morning in the ground today.
Barrowabc & mrsenario re-hung the gates that were attached to the storm damaged wall finally making that area secure again. Glad to get that job out of the way.
Myself & Steve Ahern spent the morning scrapping stuff that we've realised we'll never use (that'll please Exile) Plenty of trips to the skip with old toilets, advertising boards, wood & loads of other bits.
We also sorted through all the half painted boards that Tony Johnston will be carrying on with painting on Tuesday making it easier for him to get at it all. The whole GMA is looking tidy again!
Elaine was there cleaning the changing rooms & she tells me someone has finally been down to empty them food waste & rubbish skips.
Les was also there but never really got to speak with him so I suppose he was keeping himself busy in the changing rooms.
Ian RVJ & Pete Nichols were carrying on with the press box work. I think they've now moved into the next section which will then complete the whole area. Steve Leonards donated laminate floor boards were moved around there as well, these will be fitted in the first section while Ian & Pete carry on further along.
There were a steady stream of people coming in to sign the "thank you" gift to BK. One of these was a man (never got his name) who had some extendable ladders, staging & odds & ends of tools & paint to give us. Trouble was he needed help to get them from Dalton, in walks Mark Mc to sign the gift
I think Mark thought it'd be a two minute signature then off.....well he was....to Dalton, bit longer than two minutes though. Thanks Mark.
Another man who came in for the signing was a poster who I'd never met before but I'd always wanted to, PJ Daly, always enjoy reading his posts & nice to finally meet him.
Sight of the afternoon had to be mrsenario pushing an ASDA trolly that he'd found in the ground filled with (for once in his life not pizza's, bun's, cakes & beefburgers) toilets & sinks for the skip. I think all them people watching the football must've thought he was a tramp with all his worldly possessions in that trolly - I'm sure a kid threw 50p at him

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Yeah...get all the crap jobs....joking aside, we have had time to digest the survey from the new owners and our core team decided to carry on doing the work, purely because we enjoy it. There will always now be a facility for emergent and emergency work where in the past, walls have blown down, advertising boards become loose in high winds and even goose poo on the pitch have put matches in jeopardy last season. These were promptly dealt with from a cry for help on the forum and hope it continues with a great response from all people.
The type of work we have identified from the survey are small things like terracing crumbling, cracks in walls, removal of glass from walls, paving stones broken tripping hazards etc, stuff we have done in the past 18 months anyway....we also have people who like to go down through the week and are leaving painting work out for Tony this week on the completion of the press box so we can get this out of the way ...nice workshop job like painting MDF sheets in grey and white gloss.

Do we need a better solution for those flags? The issue is that when the beer comes heavy barrels are upended, and the inevitable happens.
Would it be better to lay a slab of solid concrete?
I'm no pro, so over to you lads

Thay were done first time around mate(cheep) There five blobed and poo flags
Which makes them hollow and thay'll brake or crack with weight.
And I think we've about ten or so flags left. But sure we
Can get another pack and do the job right so it won't need doing again
Not a quick fix but it's a do a bull job for us (me) and the fact
We can use all gear from work makes it a cheep job to do for club
Which will free money up for more important stuff for club.
That's my view anyway

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I think (Tommy abc will put me right) there are two thickness's of flagstone, the ones we are talking about I'm sure are the thinner ones, the type we used for the path that runs down the side of the main building are the heavier duty type. This is something or nothing that was shown up on Paul Cassons survey - the terracing all around the ground is much more of a tripping hazard.
If it's H & S jobs first, these paving flags are about 100th on the list.
Another way around it would be to not have as many alcoholics as supporters
