If it's H & S jobs first, this is about 100th on the list.
The two blocks of concrete at the end of the stand by the green bin are another tripping hazard.
I fell over these on Tuesday and I am now black and blue down my arm and have cut my shin. Hospital gave me a tetanus and diptheria jab as the area of the floor where I cut myself was swimming in dirty water and rubbish. I have no idea where these came from or who placed them there.

Tommy & Tommy, any apologies due??????

Which end of the stand Elaine - towards the HSE or nearer the X Bar? If it's the X Bar end we'll let the two T's off.

Mickmike, I took Peter Schofield (along with two other builders) around last week for quotes on various jobs (X Bar, roof replacement windows & windows in the corporate room) & he said he'd seriously think about hiring it out for a season at a time if it had a balcony but, after realising that we need planning, weight reg's, design etc it's too much for me look into.

If anyone has any expertise in these sort of things I'm sure Jamie or Paul will be happy to hear off you as that's who the quotes are going back to.

They aren't by the gate Tommy. They are by the green bin where I was heading with an arm full of discarded bottles. Litter picking yet again. It's all these extra games once the season ends.
Hectic from tomorrow onwards with games every day finishing on Thursday. Happily I won't be there all next week. :scarf:

Very sorry to hear that Elaine, hope you’re soon fully fit again. For all their enthusiasm, safety awareness is perhaps the one thing the Maintenance Group lack. I hope your accident will put safety awareness and the benefit of a brief mental risk assessment in everyone’s mind in future.

Identify the hazards then either: Eliminate, Reduce, Isolate, or Control them. Keep the workplace tidy; wear the correct personal protective equipment. Everybody gets to go home again and not to hospital or the mortuary.

Errr, Mr WG, it wasn't anything to do with any of the volunteers - Elaine just explained that.

We always remind people of H & S issues & "to be careful out there" Take for instance the time I climbed a rickety old ladder & told mrsenario to hold the bottom for me, is that not safety awareness? Just because he's deaf & had wandered off for a talk leaving me balanced up there is another matter  as the saying goes "it's the thought that counts"

Seriously though, we have a builder to build, we have qualified spark's to do all the electrical work, joiners that use circular saws everday & before any college students came into the ground we had the college saftey rep come down for an inspection & to check the club had insurance, add on to that the ground saftey rules that have to be followed with regards fire extiguishers etc. I think the rest (painting, insulation, cutting the grass, replacing a broken toilet, picking litter) is the same as someone doing a bit of DIY at home
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

A gent called BILLY from Dalton called in the ground on Sunday and dropped off some step ladders, a small wooden ladder and some dust sheets for the GMA. he has donated before but no-one got his name to say thanks. THANK YOU BILLY.:) :)

Re Crossbar Balcony. Would it be feasible / cost effective to run a mezzanine floor outside the Crossbar so no load bearing on the actual structure? Bonus- This would also provide a roof for those below.

Opening out from the Crossbar. (Could even have awnings with "sponsors" name etc) and could become part of a season Corporate / fan hospitality sponsorship package.

Loads of these come up on ebay- Don't give up on this one.

It's still a fantastic idea Jonty, & when you have people like Peter Schofield saying he'd be interested in taking a corporate room for the season if they had a balcony, it's well worth looking into.
I don't know whether Jamie will still investigate the possibility but I only said in an earlier post it's just too much for us to do. Even just putting the windows in the corporate rooms requires the town hall being involved.
As I said earlier, I'm sure Jamie will talk to anyone who feels like they can put a bit of time into this.

I think you might find that the new owner might have some opinion on this!

Surely this would be a fantastic addition to the ground, Providing cover for those underneath & adding a balcony for the corporate guests, making a game day experience that bit more comfy which should be a winner in its self, I'm sure Peter S could do the installation work after getting the necessarily paperwork done n dusted for a deal on his desire to buy a box for the season & it would encourage other corporate guests to buy into our new vision, win/win fella's :flag:

Exciting times all round :scarf:

Ermm, correct, it was Paul Casson who asked us to get quotes for it!
