Kit Matters

Post by Ralph » Wed Jun 11, 2014 12:33 am

From tonight's Mail: "Barrow AFC have ordered their new home and away kits from their supplier Puma. The kits should be available to buy in plenty of time before the new season starts".

Are Coral still our sponsors?

Who is sponsoring the Conference Premier, North and South, thought Skrill was just a year?

The Conference have appointed an outside body to continue the search for a sponsor for next season.

Believe it when i see it.

Make a change to play in friendlys without last seasons players on the back of the shirt.
'Mukendi 17' shirt being worn by Ben Hoskin. etc

Pre-season friendlies are being played wearing last seasons shirts which don't have a name on the back. A bit boring really. I liked it when we played a friendly and we had 3 Rutherfords on the pitch at the same time.

I can't remember barrow ever wearing their new seasons shirt for friendlies so no big deal as long as they are on sale by July it will be ok then people will probably say the new shirts are crap to be honest I don't know why Mr Casson is spending his money with a lot of so called fans always having a dig!

Just because we have a new owner doesn't mean that supporters will stop moaning. Ever since I started coming to Holker Street - which was over half a century ago, which is frightening - people have moaned.

The only difference is that then it was letters to the Evening Mail, now it is the immediacy of t'internet.

It's moaning about things that keeps us happy! :)

Don't know where you saw that Adam. The players were told not to give their shirts away as they would be needed for the pre-season friendlies. A big notice to that effect put in the changing room on the last game of the season too.
Nothing tinpot about that Steeley. They don't have names on them, so are you saying we should purchase more shirts just for the friendlies? That would be a waste of money.

To be fair that was probably before anyone had an idea what was happening with regards to the takeover proposals. Either way I don't care which kit they use so its a non issue really.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

I remember reading that the new shirts would be available to buy as the pre season games commence, although I can't remember where I read it.

Thanks for the good wishes. It's been all a bit hectic to be sure, but enjoyable, lots to do certainly. Darren has been golden and I hope his touch continues and we can bring in a couple more statement players.

So, to the badge thing. We haven't changed the club crest, the former design will continue in that role.

For the kit though, I made the decision that I wanted Barrow AFC on the shirt, tracksuits etc. and so at that point a change was mandatory. I am very serious about our stated ambition of league football, Jason and Simon's signings were an early demonstration of that, I hope. Odd as it may sound, I want this new team to know they play for a Barrow AFC with real ambition and carry that name over their heart , that they have a mission and that their opponents know exactly who they are . Simple minded maybe, we will see.

It probably doesn't make much sense to anyone else but me, and in the scheme of things a new badge may not seem so important, but I want to make a statement to the team right from the first minute of the first game. Great things are expected of them. They will play pre season games in the new kit, and they will end the season in that same kit, hopefully successfully.

I know the new badge needs a little work, the ball particularly and we will make it more retro .
All I can ask is that everyone hold their fire until they see it on the shirts, it may surprise people.

If it doesn't work in the end, then we will definitely have some kind of design competition during the season. At the end of the day, the badge will look rubbish if we don't get promoted but will look like the Mona Lisa if we do.

Sincerely

Paul
