Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Nice little surprise awaiting us when we got down there to move the goal posts (thanks to Gareth, Ian RVJ, Exile, mrssenorita + myself that's now been done)
Our scumbag friends have been busy over the weekend again, tap's left on & flooded an area about 15ft x 15ft, lights left on in the press box & turnstiles, graffiti wrote on the goal posts (*come back to this one in a minute) a turnstile vandalised & another one with the doors kicked open & paneling smashed in, the stewards cabin didn't escape neither as the lock was smashed in & door kicked open - what fine upstanding people roam our streets.
(*) Obviously brains aren't a requirement to be in this "gang" as one of them (if this is to be believed) has wrote a name on the goal post with his release date from prison!! this has been photographed & will be passed onto the club or police if they require it. There was also a broken phone found in the ground, this will also be passed on to either the club or police if needed.
The main building doors seemed ok when I had a look around. Everthing that could be fixed & made secure(ish) again was also done.
Anyway, the main purpose was shifting the goal posts to allow Gareth & the new company clear access to all the pitch & as I say, that's now been done.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

There are probably easier ways of doing it, but is this Andy Ferrell's way of telling Edmo he wants a trial?spirit of 1990 wrote:one of them (if this is to be believed) has wrote a name on the goal post with his release date from prison!!

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
the only way to secure the ground would be to fence it right round but it would cost too much and even then i suppose it would be easy to climb over the gates, so they would have to be looked at as well.
when you look at the bigger picture all of the ground needs updating so i can`t see mr casson wasting money on fences etc.
then is it feasable to develop holker st. or move to a new site i know this wouldn`t go down well but we have to keep all options open as finances dictate which option is the best for our club
feel gutted for all the people that put all their spare time and efforts into the ground maintenance work.

8 Channel CCTV complete with 4 cameras from Maplin with motion detection and if you hook it up to the internet, it'll email you an alert and store image to hard drive, small system less than £300
We're all supporters on here. Let's leave the negative comments to the away fans

Those D-day Vets did what they had to do ... to watch a [SwearFilter] mindless, useless, ever expanding Cretinous family of society who do, do things like that?

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
We were asked by Jamie the other day to remove & store the goal posts ready for the work to start on the pitch this week, these were removed (as I mentioned earlier) but the goal post sockets were then left open to debris falling into them so we had to make some covers to prevent that from happening. Tommy & myself made these today in the GMA & dropped them into place before the top soil/sand (not sure what it is) gets spread around tomorrow.
I think I heard Jamie right when he said 80 tons were to be spread around (80 tons! can that really be right?) anyway, it's there at the side of the X Bar by the stewards cabin looking like a mini Andes range!
Some areas have already been re-seeded such as the goal mouth & pen spot plus a stretch where the liners run.
Other bit's we did tonight were putting three plaques up on the HSE & doing a little bit in the new Bluebirds Trust office.
No new break-in's to report
Must thank Arron who isn't a BAFC supporter (Sunderland fan) but saw my car outside the ground & decided to pop in to have a natter......doesn't work like that
he ended up carrying units up to the ST office & helping us with the plaques!

Converting the floodlight pylons to guard towers and fitting them with machine guns must have worked, then?spirit of 1990 wrote: No new break-in's to report

Great story....lets see what mess is left by the dancing squad Sunday...traditionally one of the biggest crowds of the season and an ice lolly wrappers and squashed coke cans paradise if its a hot day....who will do this clean up, possibly the last event before the ground changes hands

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
If anyone is having any new windows fitted would there be any chance of giving us a shout about the old ones? We're after one to go in the ST office, we're quite flexible with the size as we can make the opening to suit. Anything from 750 to 1500 m/m long by 500 to 1000 m/m high would be workable. This will be fitted internally between the main office & counter/shop area.
While we're asking, if anyone is taking up any laminate flooring or similar that would also come in handy for the smaller office part of the building.
We can pick up both these items from the Barrow area.
