Absolute no brainer for me - Simon Grand - Captained a winning side last year. As much as I like Jase and he is a fans favourite, I hate seeing forwards as captains, for me the game needs to be captained from the back when you can always see the game infront of you

Seems a strange choice with Simon Grand in the team.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Agree it's not like a cricket captain who makes all the decisions which can change a match

Agreed, definitely don't think its a strange choice. There is nothing at all to choose between Livessey and Grand so could quite easily have been either of them, no one else comes close.

Sounds from RC commentator like Livesey is CLUB captain. Grand wearing the armband at Ashton. Never fathomed the difference myself, probably acts as a sort of liaison between players and management.

Nothing against Danny Livesey getting the nod at all, but in answer to it not really mattering, I think it does to the individual.
How often do you hear of it being a "great honour" for that person? I'm sure it mattered to the likes of Jonah & Skivvy or at a higher level, Steven Gerrard or John Terry.

It might not matter too much to the supporter on the terrace but it might to the player.

I just thought (along with plenty of others) that the promotion winning experience of Grandy might have got him it. If Danny is the captain, best of luck to him in what looks like another great defendr & leader, we're lucky to have two such players in the team at the same time.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

They're both top defenders and leaders. They will form a good partnership, it will be like having two captains on the pitch when they play anyway.

Didn't Livesey captain Carlisle? He must have experience in the role if so.

Yea he did for a few years, listened to edmo on radio and he said livesey was club captain which involved communication between staff and players. Seems like grand will wear the armband on the pitch

Yes think Livesey would be more suited for sheer experience. You don't skipper AFC Telford to a championship win tho. Be good for the whole side as the 2 are quality. Roll on Gainsboro. We owe them 5 or 6 from last year :D :D
