Chorley kick off put back to 6.30

Post by jimboc90 » Fri Aug 15, 2014 11:46 pm

Yet the last race isn't untill 5:50 at cartmel ,surely a 7:45 kick off would of been better to allow people the option of both as i would never leave before the last race and would need to set off straight after the second to last to get home for kick off, annoyed.

I think all other games are 3.00 kick off on bank holiday monday
6.30 is a compromise agreed by the two clubs (correct me if I be wrong, Uncle Pete)

Some of us be building submarines anyway, not watching posh [SwearFilter] riding their nags around some rich [SwearFilter]'s field

what has that got to with the fact the club stated the kick off time has been put back due to the races,i know that all other games are 3.00 kick off on bank holiday monday and 6.30 is a compromise agreed by the two clubs and that some of you be building submarines anyway, not watching posh [SwearFilter] riding their nags around some rich [SwearFilter]'s field.................?

And the fact that it is pointless in putting it back to 6,30 for this reason that they firstly gave, when it defeats the object of that, yes the ''shipbuilders'' etc would be able to go but that was second in the statement.

Chorley could have said "no", in which case it would have stayed at 3.00, and we'd all be missing it, or ahem, having a migraine....

But the fact is that they never, and a time of 6.30 was agreed '' to avoid the clash with Cartmel Races '' which it is not doing is it,which is the point i am making, pointless in stating the game has been moved to avoid a clash when it really hasn't it just allows you to see most of it,which is of course better than 0 i agree but why not 30 mins- 45 later and problem solved for all i am sure 30 minutes would not be a problem if they have already agreed to put it back a further 3 and a half hour now would it...

they agreed to put it back so unless chorley had said the latest we will put it back to is xx then ok there is nothing we can about this of course, and if the fa decide what time again there is nothing that we can do,but if we put forward the timing and then come out with this reasoning, kind of defeats the object of doing so imo. :scarf:

I do agree with jimboc90, if the club has stated the kick off time was moved to avoid the clash with Cartmel Races, then the kick off time should be put forward to 7.45. No harm done there, and I dont think anyone would be that bothered.

Is it not more to do with the traffic that would be getting to and from the races in both directions?
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

I also thought that was the reason

I'm pretty certain that's the first time they've mentioned Cartmel Races as being the reason, the reason given previous seasons has been to do with the yard no longer having a fixed bank holiday on that particular date.

I think it's a good compromise, the gate would suffer more if it was a 3:00pm KO & it'd be more than likely Chorley would've refused a later one, why would they risk alienating their travelling support with a later KO just to suit us?

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

It seems to me that it's good of Chorley to make that compromise and why indeed should they have to have it put back later still and get home at a time when the cocoa's gone cold just because we are concerned about losing out to a few horses.

In truth it is no problem, no dilemma, no issue in the slightest; it's really very simple, Barrow AFC before Cartmel Races every time! Priorities! Nothing to debate! End of. Unless of course you're not really, really, really a Barrow Soccer fan - - - .

Seems like a good compromise to me, too, and good of Chorley to agree with it - a benefit of it being a local game for them, I guess.

Anyway, who goes to Cartmel Races and waits until after the last race to leave?

Suppose there must be a few attendees interested in the horse racing... ;)

I think the main reason for the change was that BAE are working on that day and many of the stewards (as well as fans) work at BAE so the club would've had problems in being able to steward the match if it was a 3pm kick-off. They spoke with Chorley about changing the kick-off and a compromise of 6.30 was agreed which is fair enough as Chorley could've turned round and said no like a couple of clubs had done previously.
TBH I don't think Cartmel Races should have been mentioned in the announcement about the change of kick-off time as they wouldn't have known the time of the last race back then and that you wouldn't have been able to get back in time for kick-off.

I think you mean put back - unless you're suggesting a morning kick-off?!? :o
