Never a pen.

They had better chances first half but we had more possession. Eventually we wore a well organised side down with a bit of luck/chicanery although any striker would have gone down there.

We weren't great but won- sign of a good side that.

Who was that co-commentator? Chris the tree or something, he was awful
I liked Chris the tree. No outrage a la Dodd whenever a ref decision went against us or "What a good player would have done there was..." a la Goodwin. Now just get the commentator to stop using the words "dink", "dinked" or "dinking" and all will be well in RC Barrow coverage land.
IMO, Goodwin is head and shoulders above any of the others. He's the only one who actually seems to understand anything about football and the ability of footballers.

Goodwin is in America im sure he will be back doing home games as soon as he returns.

I'm not a footballer or coach so could only give my opinion based on what i saw.

Was different watching the game from the press box you notice things more.

That is probably the first time in years i havent sworn at a match so something good came out of it.

I assume you were the person doing it on Saturday. If so, I thought you did a decent job. My comment was more a defence of Goodwin that an attack on anybody else. I like Goodwin because he's the only person I've heard commentating who "tells it like it is" and often gets criticised for doing so. I want to hear if somebody in the Barrow side is playing badly or doing something wrong. I want to know if a Barrow player dives or makes a dangerous tackle just as much as when one of the opposition does. In fact, I want to hear an unbiased commentary so I know exactly what is happening. That is not what some people want because they want everything to be biased. That's why I like Goodwin's comments because he criticises as well as praises.

Well done Chris. I listened to all the game and you certainly did a lot better than a good deal of the people we have had on there in recent years. Has to be said that you tell a few points where you were very close to swearing which I found funny :)

Perhaps with our American based owner, a few "Aw shucks" wouldn't go amiss. ;)

Really good goal from Pilkington! Not half bad effort from Leamington either. Cooks ruled out effort in the 2nd looked onside (just) but Grand who also went for the ball looked slightly off (just) when ball played, check out the freeze frame at 4:27 see what you think. Leamington No3 should not have barged Walker with his shoulder as I'm pretty sure that convinced the ref it was a foul. Very soft and they are usually the type we have lost points to in the past. Barrow deserved the win on play and chances.

you are right grand is just off then steps back,to be fair to the linesman they then jump together and it would have been hard to call!(these things usually even themselves out!)

at the end of the day the man that scored Cook was onside, the goal should have stood.

I prefer John Goodwin to the others as well normally at the games so dont listen to the radio much as i used to when i was based away from Barrow.

I appriciate those that do it more now after having ago myself.

Cook unlucky with the offside but that is a hard one for the linesman with Grand going for the ball.

As for the Penalty i think its one Walker clearly gets nudged soft but they are given these days maybe years ago they would never be pens.

Wonder if their number 4 get's a bollocking off their manager! When Jase & their defender collide he stops to appeal for the free kick (which it never was) which allow's Pilks the time to tee up his shot.

I thought on the day it was a pen & after watching that I'm convinced I was right, the Leamington player was looking at barging Jase for a yard or two as they ran towards goal. Jase has gone down too easily on a couple of occasions already this season & has got nothing (and rightly so) but in full flight you aren't going to stay on your feet with that lump charging into you.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Having seen the replay several times Nige, Simon Grand was in an offside position when the free kick was taken, but made no attempt to either jump or play the ball so should have not been given offside, if indeed that is what the linesman flagged for.
Andy Cook was not offside when the ball was played to him so the goal should have counted.

Not on top form but apart from our near misses, goals and cooky no goal the best cheer went up for my mate who after years of us trying , headed the ball bobby moore style back onto pitch.Headed the ball and forgot he had is sun glasses on quality! :D
