I'm all for putting the best team out where necessary but I think we have squad players (I hate that term) who are more than capable enough to beat Runcorn without running the risk off injuring some of our more influential players. A cup run would be great but the league is our bread and butter and if we are serious about winning the league then we will need the best players fit for league games.

Some excellent reports and opinions from those that went, thanks all.

Doing very well. Looking at the standings we are the only team that have lost 1 game, the other 3 teams in the top 4, Fylde, Chorley and Guiseley have all lost 2 everyone else has lost 3 or more. With a game in hand capable of going top :D . Virtually a quarter of the way through and looking very strong for promotion, need to keep the goals flowing.

N.Ferriby looked strong early on in the season but have faded recently, 3 straight defeats followed by 2 draws. I've read a few times that N.Ferriby don't look as good as last season, and it sounds like the rumours are true, we did take one of their goal scorers from last term ;) . They lost 8 league games last season, they have already lost 3 this time out, probably not the team we thought they would be. Shame some of the loose chances could not be put away and pick up 3 points. Probably the reason why Edmo wants another striker, to keep up the competition to keep the front men firing while Wilson recovers.

Just watched the highlights and my thoughts on the game are similar of that I had Saturday. We couldn't handle that big lad up front.
Some of our passing though for some of our chances was excellent.
Penalty looks a penalty he played advantage, then gave it when Denton shouts penalty to the ref from behind him.
Was speaking to a ferriby player in the bar afterwards he said he thinks we will win the league and that it was good to play in front of fans singing for once.

We don't need to bring in someone who can "break up play in midfield", we have him already - ARH !! Can't for the life of me fathom why he's not got a start in the last two games. Lacey or Harvey .... let me think, it's a no brainer.
After seven awesome performances where he's all over the pitch, to suddenly getting dropped for Lacey, I really can't understand this decision. Nothing against Lacey personally, but he's not in the same "league". Just my opinion - but hey, what do I know !!!

Have a word with yourself Al! Never a penalty, he played the pass then fell over, just as I thought on Saturday no penalty :) Denton screaming in the ref's ear scared him into submission!

shame about missing all those chances, but just as bad is the defending for their second goal where were our central defenders?it was absolutely shocking defending,as for arh not playing i`d say edmo must think he`s no good in physical battles but edmo can also point out that even without him we did create some brilliant chances!(by the way i like arh).

I agree about ARH - baffling why he isn't starting games with some of the performances he's put in this season. Equally as baffling is why McWilliams isn't even on the bench yet, let him slot into his position & if we still want someone to break up games, give Cowps a run in that role.

Having said that.....we're second in the league with a game in hand, a good scoring record, decent(ish) goals against column & unbeaten in eight so what do we know?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Completely agree with the first bit but disagree with the 2nd bit.
We may well have been top of the league had it not been for the chopping and changing of the squad, I think ARH playing on Saturday (or at least brought on a lot sooner than he was) could have been the difference between us drawing and winning due to the way we gave the ball away so much in the 2nd half with so many long balls. We wouldn't have done that the same with ARH playing.
Questioned Meeks after the match and said that if we had the same 11 every week teams would know exactly how we'd play and set themselves up accordingly to play against us. I understand we could change things occasionally but I don't agree with the amount we're changing the team and leaving good players in form on the bench?

Agree with most about ARH but lets face it IF we had stuck or chances away we wouldn't be talking about ARH to be fair.
Still we are well placed, Edmo is doing a cracking job and has done since he came to the club, and its going to be a cracking magic carpet ride, we wont steam role every team every week Barrow are a big scalp in this league and teams will raise their game against us.Fa cup now that will give subs some game time to keep them fresh when they inevitably get called into the team due to injury or suspension. Nice feeling that we have money now rather than we couldn't rub two pennies together as in the past.

At the risk of sounding like Russel Dodd.......how was that not a free kick to us just before they got their second?

Seemed like we had more than enough chances to stick another away & win the game. Absolute cracker by Izak, we're certainly getting spoilt this season for special goals.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Have just watched the highlites 3 times. How was Jason ever offside. Ferriby penalty....well the ball had already been played away before the culprit fell over and screamed at the Ref as if hit by an exocet. Cowps was fowled quiet deliberately leading up to their second goal. Once again an appalling set of officials.
Saying that, we should have been out of site before half time. Nice place tho is second in the league with a game in hand.
Would def like ARH to be the midfield general. Need Cowps on right of midfield when we get Macca back which should be "already".
Prices for FA Cup may put some off incl away support. Would have though another quid cheaper to give Runcorn folks a better deal to get here and watch.
1000 would be my guess and around a 5-0 home win.

At the time/angle I couldn't see how Walker was offside but it's quite obvious he is. I thought when two defenders ran past him he might have tracked back, lazy and a yard of movement and were 1 up. Don't want to seem like I'm getting on his back but the foul in question was on Walker and he dived, still there was other phases and our centre halves( Who look a bit suspect at times) were caught napping.

Cracking ball by Grand for Izak Reid who finished it off superbly. I'm often a criticism of Grand in particular for hoofing it every time but this time it paid off (probably the first time this season). Pilks miss was a shocker after a good ball by Walker. First half I thought we were great but second half we were shite and I think in the end we were lucky to draw. God knows what that carthose upfront for them was moaning about for our equaliser. He was moaning for a good few minutes but still never got booked another example of the poor officiating seen on Saturday from the man in the middle and his assistants. How do you give advantage when it comes down to a penalty ?!

I like Lacey and were all Barrow and what not but ARH and Shez has to be the middle two for me. Lacey is seen as an enforcer but on Sat in a game were somebody in that game should have grabbed it by the scruff of the neck he didn't. He didn't seem to win too many tackles he went in for, he did however spray some nice balls around. The less said on his shooting in the game the better! Start with our ideal formation and team and then make changes, if the games going away from us or we need to tighten it up bring Lacey on.
