stewards
Here they go again being total arses.
Youngish lad Holker end has banter with the keeper calling him a paedophile etc etc. nothing that hasn't been said over and over again but the jobsworths come and warn him of his behaviour etc etc. Ffs get a grip and find something better to do

Re: stewards
No, this goes beyong normal banter, and they were right to pull the young lad up and do what they did. Perhaps it's the young lad that needs to find something better to do, and come back to HS when he's grown up.
Re: stewards
Why do the stewards give the kids grief about standing behind the goal at steelworks end where the yellow lines are. It is embarrassing watching stewards tell young kids off and move them on from behind the goal.
I know not of any other ground where home fans can not stand behind the goals to support their team. Need to get a grip and get this sorted out.

Re: stewards
I agree with you Ralph.
Banter is generally ok, but yelling 'Paedophile' at someone is clearly unsubstantiated . Said person should find something witty to have a bit of banter about.
The stewards would not be doing their jobs if they didn't respond. Well done!

Re: stewards
Second half in the Wilkie stand a steward told one lad (I'd guess 14) to get out, dunno what happened but obviously lad is questioning what he's done wrong etc. and steward grabs him by his jacket and says come on out you go. Anyway 2 minutes later he's back in. Anyone know what happened there?
Re: stewards
Ralph, I agree its not the best name to call someone, but tbh the lad was not yelling it at the top of his voice, he was having banter with the keeper who actually smiled at him in reply. That should have been the end of it, but no said steward had to then bring up about making racist comments which is completely different. In this crazy world we live in, I have heard many people shout comments about paedophiles at opposing players and nothing is done about it. Low crowd, young lad that said it, jobsworths have to look good, no need.

Re: stewards
There's banter & there's things like that Lisa, that isn't banter!
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: stewards
Obviously not right to call him that. But there's no doubt the keepers had worse of blokes, and there's no doubt the stewards seen older men give worse but they've seen it's a quiet crowd and a young lad and fancied throwing their weight about.

Re: stewards
slander n. oral defamation, in which someone tells one or more persons an untruth about another which untruth will harm the reputation of the person defamed. Slander is a civil wrong (tort) and can be the basis for a lawsuit. Some statements such as an untrue accusation of having committed a crime, having a loathsome disease, or being unable to perform one's occupation are treated as slander per se since the harm and malice are obvious.
It all comes 'round again.

Re: stewards
I fail to see how anyone, especially a parent, can deem it acceptable to call an innocent person a paedophile. It seems anything can be excused by calling it banter. To bandy that word around is an insult to those who have suffered at the hands of those vile creatures.

It's not to stop "home fans from standing behind the goals to support their team".crossbar wrote: I know not of any other ground where home fans can not stand behind the goals to support their team. Need to get a grip and get this sorted out.
These kind of rules are not created just for fun, the club's Owner, Chairman, BOD, Safety Officer and the Chief Steward have a legal responsibility towards the spectators.
The area directly behind the goalmouth is somewhat restricted, there is a walkway but if that is occupied by standing spectators then anybody wanting to pass by would then have to walk up the steps and back down to get by.
If the club allows standing spectators in that area and a passing spectator trips on the steps then it could be a Health & Safety issue, so until we can remodel that area then it is simpler to restrict standing.
The area is indentified as a yellow hatched line area and prior to the game the club make a Public Address requesting that these areas are kept clear.
I know that H&S is sometimes considered by some to be a pain but without it it WILL be painful AND costly.
We're all supporters on here. Let's leave the negative comments to the away fans

Re: stewards
Its nothing to do with health and safety, legal responsibilities or anything like that, despite what we've constantly been spoonfed. There is absolutely no good reason to stop people standing behind the goalmouths, it's been done for years and years without cause for concern, then it was stopped due to an over-zealous steward deciding people had been throwing things into the cage at players. This was then countered by the maintenance volunteers putting up those transparent plastic covers around the cage to protect it and get rid of that issue, yet for some unknown reason the area is still cordoned off. We've been given various half-arsed reasons since then, but most are as ridiculous as the suggestion you just made that it's closed off because someone might walk up the steps and trip! If that's the case then why isn't the whole ground closed!Roadrunner wrote:It's not to stop "home fans from standing behind the goals to support their team".crossbar wrote: I know not of any other ground where home fans can not stand behind the goals to support their team. I echo the original statement, i've been to the majority of the grounds in this league and the one above, and other than segregation issues i've never encountered a single time when a club has had to cordon off a certain area such as this, particularly right behind the goals, for any sort of health and safety or stewarding reasons.
Re: stewards
I think the Stewards were quite right in what they did, but they should also have told Chorleys goalkeeper exactly the same when he told some young boys to eff-off when jeered near the end when he mis-kicked a ball.
