Very sensible post from Pall Mall tonight Daz. +1 btw.ruins wrote:I dont think so. We never expected to be top of the league at this point and playing a team that are obviously a cup team and going for it in the cups isnt the worst thing losing.Leo wrote:Questions to be asked of Edmo again
Ok its never good to lose but lets be honest with the situation we are in and this isnt the worst result.
We have the infrastructure to go up and if we do come May we may see the exit from all cups as a blessing

Just saying I'm not that bothered personally. I always have been in the past and we've got a great history in the trophy but the leagues more important this year. I'd take 3 points next week over a win today.

I am trying to think if we have won a game with Taylor in goal.

Yes we did. I was actually thinking about today's 3 without reply when I typed it.boyliegladbach wrote:We scored against chorley in lancs cup
Does not sound like we will get much from the away league match either. We only got 1 against them at Holker St as they defended well and clearly they have kept us out completely today.

Think it was the return of Reg that motivated me, knowing him and Leo get on so well and that.

Its a different situation totally. League games and cup games are approached differently by every team. Cant see how you can predict a match based on this result? Were the changing rooms shite? The journey too far? Its a bit like going into work on a saturday when you normally do 9-5 monday to friday. You work but your just not that arsed!K_BFC wrote:Yes we did. And the fact we only got one against them at HS?
Well we got one.

We lack quality cover in that area.

Does 'infrastructure' simply mean we are throwing more cash at players than any other team in the league? Because other than that what do we have in place this season that will help us go up?ruins wrote:I dont think so. To be honest with the money we are reputedly paying the absolute minimum Id expect is promotion. So as it stands, Edmo is achieving the absolute minimum I'd expect of him, which is why I think his position is worth questioning

Re: Today's Match Thread
On a slight positive, Fylde and Stockport won and Chorley and Guiseley drew in the Trophy today so that is at least one more game in the competition for each of them to get tired, injuries, bookings etc in.

Not predicting anything and not basing anything on this one result.ruins wrote:Its a different situation totally. League games and cup games are approached differently by every team. Cant see how you can predict a match based on this result?
Just pointing out it is obvious we are going to have a really hard game in the league. We were lucky to get all 3 points at Holker St as they stifled the game limiting chances and from all accounts they did the same again today. Worcester are clearly a cup side this season and on a high at the moment and we are not, so todays result might have been expected, if not the 3-0 margin. In the league cup sides don't always do that well but they have only lost 4 league games and have the 3rd best defence in the league right behind Barrow in 2nd. They have only conceded 18 goals only 1 more than Barrow. They are a very solid team hard to beat this season and if we get anything in the away league match we will do well. That is how I see Worcester at the moment, thats all.

Leo, have you ever thought of a carear in football management (other than FM14) you do seem to be much more knowledgeable than DELeo wrote:Does 'infrastructure' simply mean we are throwing more cash at players than any other team in the league? We're all supporters on here. Let's leave the negative comments to the away fans

I think we are paying the price for our current position in the league but we are top, kind of proving the "infrastructure" is there. We wont get success without paying for it, hence Chelsea are [SwearFilter] the PL.
With regards to Edmo and your comments on him, questioning his position who else would do a better job than him? Out of all cups ok, but sat at the top of the league with a very good chance of promotion and taking the club into the league, as Paul Casson aimed for. I cant see a better manager and assistant to do the job!
How much are we paying the top players? Do you know? i mean that honestly not as a dig.
Andy Mutch was raking in £900 a week by all accounts over a decade ago. So whos earning what?
So your point of us paying top money and expecting promotion.............things are going to plan! Just means we dont have to [SwearFilter] about going to Dover for a cup game is all. And while were on the subject what happened to Ferriby last season? Chucking £££££ all over to win the league and lost out on goal difference, had a couple of good cup runs though didnt they?

Re: Today's Match Thread
Understand that mate and i wasnt having a go, i just think the way we play in the league is different to the cup(s) and thats how it should be. Wembley was great but i reckon lifting a trophy and NOT visiting Worcester next season would be better.K_BFC wrote:Not predicting anything and not basing anything on this one result.ruins wrote:Its a different situation totally. We got 3 points against them at home
They have the 3rd best defence - us 2nd
conceded 18 - us 17
We are better
