What about the money Fylde are throwing at their players? Boston, Stockport & the like won't be paying peanuts either, throw into the mix teams like Harrogate & last season North Ferriby & Brackley & it just goes to show you've got to get something right other than just wanging a load of money at a manager & players.

I'd also take with a pinch of salt the quotes of wages we're apparently paying.....can't see it being anywhere near what was mentioned earlier in the season.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

We got 3 points against them at home

They have the 3rd best defence - us 2nd

conceded 18 - us 17

We are better ;)
Yes definitely better. :D

No disrespect to the competition but with a month of the league games still to play, visiting Wembley at the end of March for the Trophy final would be a major distraction for any team. In playing any cup final before the end of the season the FA has simply devalued the competition and then they moan about teams not taking it seriously. It is obvious teams will have more important things on their mind at that time of the season, like winning promotion, avoiding relegation, etc.

Would like to have seen some progress but in the long run kind of glad we are out of it. Would love it if Worcester went on to win it, would be a good season for them after their FA Cup exploits. All the best to them.

We're out the trophy we have a great history in.
We're out of one of the greatest completions in the world, the FA Cup at the first hurdle against a team whose players pay a fiver subs a week in contrast to the rumoured £700 a week a local lad who loves the clubs on.
But hey we have some cash don't we. Doesn't matter

2 average at best DM's in the centre of midfield who were by passed. Wilson spunking a one on one didn't even hit the target. [SwearFilter] woeful today little effort and a performance that stunk of #NotArsed from the team and management( who just seem to accept it) but hey were top in Nov were only 6 months away from winning the league.

Come on Mr Casson their cup bonuses couldn't of been high enough.

I 'heard' a rumour that our highest paid player is Jase, on £600 a week and £100 a goal

Maybe the depth of our squad in terms of real quality lies in attacking areas.

Possibly an explanation for falling short in the cups. Sure Edmo realises this and planned accordingly.

With the way things stand, anything less than promotion may be seen as failure by the owners.

Out of every cup at the first hurdle and all before Xmas!! I can't remember that ever happening before??

I'm afraid I can't subscribe to this "it's only a cup, the leagues more important" philosophy. Yes, the league is always the most important competition but a team like this, pushing to win the CN, should be more than capable of putting together an FA Cup and/or Trophy run. I think the 1st Round of the FA Cup and last 16 of the Trophy would've been a more than reasonable expectation. As it happens we've gone out of both with a whimper, the FA Cup game being a particular low-point of the season!

Edmo's inability to lift the team for a 1-off knockout game could prove worrying if we don't win the league outright and only make the play-offs!

Am I correct in saying today is the first time we've failed to score in a match this season?? Promotion is a must or its a failed project the money were spending!!

Any club that plays Chelsea dagger after a goal should be nuked.

2nd goal was excellent, and if Paul cassons reading can you please ban Russell Dodd from commentating, the man is embarrassing, meant to be a director but things he says about certain players are out of order. .

From those highlights it looks like we had chances to get on the scoresheet, we need to be a lot more clinical next match. First goal Taylor should do better, if the second was scored in the PL we'd see it every week top skills think they call it a Rabona?? Game over from then.........disappointing

That's pretty much spot on, the depth we have in the *squad should be more than enough to see us through the early rounds of these competitions. There really are no excuses left now to us pushing on to win the league.

*If I'm being honest, I think the squad is only good enough to replace one/two or possibly three first teamer's at a time, but when there are three/four or five out it really shows up some obvious weakness's.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
