One year on!
One year on!
It's one year on Wednesday since Edmo took over a team deeply entrenched in a relegation battle. Things have changed dramatically since then, have peoples opinions changed since his recruitment. This is what we were saying a year ago.

My post from December last year

Still the same on here.

Re: One year on!
I know the circumstances have changed but so far cup/trophy's aside, I would say we have one hell of a manager in the making. What Edmo and his team did last year was amazing given the resources we had. Lifting the doom and gloom in the town for a run that threatened to get us into the play offs for a time. And even with the full backing of our new owner this season has surpassed most of our expectations so far if we are honest! One year on I would say Edmo is doing very well thank you.

ColinDalton - Sometimes its best to keep one's innermost fears to oneself. But I hope you've since found the bright side and are now looking on it.I have suffered along with all of our 'core' supporters over this last 18 months or so , but have always tried to look on the bright side.
I'm afraid this appointment has no 'bright side' and will condemn us to another almost certain relegation.

Maybe ColinDalton will come back to you and comment?...........maybe!..........
To maybe or not to maybe, that is the question.
We're all supporters on here. Let's leave the negative comments to the away fans
Re: One year on!

Also special mention to the Keens for having the vision to bring him in when the club had lost its way forward ....

Yeah chris but at least they had the decency to label it as bringing "it back local "and the new club business model.

Re: Re:
Believe it or not, the vision was there when we took Darren on, even down to Darren being full time etc. It would have been just as easy to bring someone else in, a "name" but there really was a strategy behind it.barrowfan_chris wrote:I dont think it was a vision mrsenario i think he was all we could afford
The big difference is we have the money now to accelerate the plans.

Re: One year on!
I think in many ways what Edmo did pre Casson was a bigger achievement, whether we go up from the CN or not.
I'll never forget that away game at Workington on Boxing Day- 130 odd from Barrow only there, 40 odd police, Arnie getting the winner, two poor sides but look at where both are now.
We'll take about 350-400 to Fylde
I do think it was as much desperation forced us down the Edmo path though Pete, we couldn't sustain what was going on. TK was never that bothered on youth and community aspects, reserves etc IMO and he was the main driving force (nowt against TK by the way, hope he comes back to the matches etc)

I doubt he will come back he didn't watch the games whilst he was in charge and you never saw him at an away game.barrowaberdeen wrote:I do think it was as much desperation forced us down the Edmo path though Pete, we couldn't sustain what was going on. Going to that Wukkie away game was one of the highlights of the last few years for me (there weren't too many others if I'm being honest) but sat in my mates car with a few others, looking at that cold, bleak landscape (and that was before Workington!!) looking like relegation certanties thinking to myself - what the [SwearFilter] am I doing coming up here when I could be sat at home or in the pub.
Then rolling into that pub (Commercial??) and seeing it packed out with Barrow supporters with a few locals looking very confused as they were probably just nipping out for a quiet pint. Getting to the ground to see so many there from Barrow & totally out singing the home support, then as you say Steve, Arnie scoring the winner with THAT celebration in front of his old mates. Then the madness of about a thousand coppers turning up, but not much could've spoilt that day by then....
What a difference twelve months has made.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: One year on!
Edmo had been offered the job before but apparently hadn't felt he was ready for it at the time so it was logical that he should be offered it again after what had been achieved up the coast on meagre pickings. Pleased he accepted this time.
Meanwhile Reds now seems to be a great formative experience for Gavin Skelton, too.

Re: One year on!
The reason TK wasn't watching matches at home was usually,he was upstairs helping the staff clear Cooperate getting it ready for half time. He often watched the game by the Study Centre door ready to react to anything that was needed in the building during the game.
As for away games perhaps he felt time with his family one weekend in two after running a business and keeping a football club going warranted time with his family....Who knows
