The Alarm Bells started ringing as far back as our FA CUP exit. This group of players and Management are not up to the Journey which you are planning to take us on, having followed AFC over 50 years what happens now is the crowds will drop big style. The BUZZ AND EXTRA interest you have created THIS Season which has been Fantastic will dwindle away. This is only a Mickey Mouse League and hopefully we might get to Play-offs, we are not getting value for money never mind you.

Take a look at the league table. Did you honestly think we were going to win the league with 120 odd points? we are in second place!
No one cared about the fact we played shite in the FA CUP. Alarm bells should have been ringing but people were just arsed about the league and expected us to just keep winning. It doesn't happen.

Complete over reaction!
Of course the players care, of course the board care, of course edmo cares. It's a long term plan, we've got a squad that's been together 4 months, with 3 new additions in the last week. How many times did people need telling - promotion this season isn't the be all and end all. We are second on the league, is Mourinho under pressure?
Mistakes will be made by all on this journey, the players, the board, the managers and date I say it... The fans.
Stick with em, it won't all be smooth riding....

How the hell do you know the managers/ players aren't getting a kick up the backside, or are you just presuming? Or would you prefer them to make things like this public??? That wouldn't be very professional now would it?blue nige wrote:you are spot on (die hard) the passion the fans have far outway the performances of late (so sorry for those people who travel to watch)

Agreed, if we don't go up this season will be an absolutely huge failure.barrowfan_chris wrote:I have been waiting for the promotion doesnt matter this season line.bluebird90 wrote:Complete over reaction!

Re: Mr Casson please read
Even just listening to the matches on the radio and watching the video highlights, the alarm bells have been ringing for a long time as far as I'm concerned. I've hardly ever seen us look better than the teams we've played but have somehow been grabbing a goal - usually late in the match - and squeezing through. That has now stopped happening. The really alarming thing is that a defence that generally was reasonably tight has started to resemble a sieve. The team we played against today has conceded 19 goals in it's last 4 games! Hyde are chopping blocks in this league and even the teams at the bottom would expect to beat them. For a team 2nd in the league not to be able to do it after leading 4-2 is more than worrying.

I understand mistakes might be made but why the same ones? are you telling me that we haven't been missing a leader in midfield? that's not a. mistake it's a glaring error of judgement!bluebird90 wrote:Complete over reaction!

We need to go up this season Stockport amongst others will get stronger and the players that we brought here were picked because of their desire to be successful not my words theirs and edmos!

It was said at the start of the season that promotion wasn't a must. Money doesn't buy instant success, it takes time, players need to gel, injuries happen, individual mistakes happen, just ask man city fans, chelsea fans, fleetwood fans, wigan fans.
At times we will need to take two steps back to go one step forward. We are in a damn sight better position than we were last season.
Thankfully, it seems PC has some sense of reality.

Of course Paul Casson was going to say that he was hedging his bets, but you are kidding yourself if you think he'd be happy if we didn't get promoted!bluebird90 wrote:It was said at the start of the season that promotion wasn't a must. I'm sick to death of hearing this shite about long term plans. I don't doubt they're in place but we cannot use it as a way of validating poor results. The money we've clearly spent this season should be seeing us getting a much better return than we have been. This league is a terrible standard and management will only have themselves to blame if we fail this season.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.
If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Re: Mr Casson please read
While not getting promoted this season may not be awful from a footballing perspective, it'll do some damage to the "brand" which Casson seems to want to focus on right now. Gates will rise if we're doing well and fall if not, momentum is hard to to gain but easy to learn and if crowds dwindle again we've seen this season how hard it can be to get them back up even when things are going well.
We've spent pretty big on the budget and got a following in off the pitch, if we don't go up then the money will have been wasted and the following and buzz will, whether right or wrong, dwindle.

Re: Mr Casson please read
Aside from what might be a wind up OP, I generally agree with the idea that the season will be seen as a complete failure if we don't go up.
We have invested more than everyone (although one or two are similar)
We have a bigger fanbase to push on (aside from Stockport)
So therefore the management team have conditions where expectations are high. They should be. If I was given a job where the people were more talented than their peers, the financing was great and you had opportunity to procure good staff then damn right just 'managing O.K' would not be enough- different pressure. And, to me at least, it's interesting to ponder how Bayles would have done with this completely different situation- probably would have strangled Danny Rowe
.
Against this, it has been pointed out to me on one or two occasions from within the club that we aren't as settled and as gelled a side as the likes of Fylde and Guiseley are- we couldn't be and that is entirely fair comment- very good point, you need time to build a team.
I think barring utter implosion even if we don't go up Edmo and Meeks will still be here- you have got to give people a reasonable go. However, if this happens, it might be a bit like when we got relegated- we were tired and when it kept going wrong the reaction was vitriolic come September, with a fair bit of justification.
If you are reading this PC (I'm not calling you Mr Casson as I'm not some forelock tugging horny handed son of toil) then I think you have great things here and in the main (Gherkin notwithstanding) you really seem to get the team and town- you are from Barrow unlike myself after all
. I would merely suggest that you keep looking at EVERYONE within the club to ensure they get it too.
The support (and the town when it sporadically wakes up) deserves a decent football club. Be honourable, but be ruthless as well please.
