I'm agreeing with this. People slated the previous BoDs for not communicating enough (and rightly so) so I can't see the problem myself.
I haven't got a problem with him commenting on here, just when what's written is a load of rubbish.
All that about being in champions league places and and top of other leagues is just irrelevant.

I think it's great that our owner takes note of what the supporters feelings are via our forum. I know Peter is the supporter representative and if that's who he chooses to speak through fine by me. Maybe Paul would like to address some more of the concerns expressed on the forum and also give a former member of this forum peace of mind ;)

Although I don't agree with everything he says I think it's good that Paul Casson communicates with the supporters at all.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Yes its good he communicates with us.

Maybe he could register on the forum and have a QnA every so often so supporters can put their questions to him?

That's a great idea......and I agree it's good he feels comfortable (via Pete) to let us know his thoughts every so often

I am happy that Paul tells it as he sees it, rather than making 'diplomatic statements' and just saying what he thinks supporters wants to hear.

I expect most on here like to either go to work or sit with friends and discuss the last game etc. Don't forget PC is in isolation in that foreign land and if he wants to make a contribution on his thoughts on this forum why not? As we have said numerous times the forum is open to anyone's opinion.
Boylie just because his thoughts are different to yours doesn't necessarily mean they are rubbish. Just a different perspective that's all.
We can all agree to disagree and that's what makes for good debates.

Not a problem with him commenting on here, I think it's a communication step in the right direction. Comparing other leagues isn't nonsense. As I've said for a while, people expect far too much far too soon and this reiterates that fact. We are in a healthy position despite a wobble, let's hope Fylde now have their wobble and we can put in a big run of results. Just a question to you forum members: are you happier now as a Barrow fan than you have been in the previous 3 years?
Stood behind Ray Wilkie for years. Best education I ever had.

Agreed.

The first paragraph regarding if we were in the prem we would be in the champions league etc . . . is nonsense. We're in the Conf North and we should adapt to our league accordingly.

The third paragraph is ridiculous and I don't want our owner endorsing some of the terrible 'football' on show. The money we have spent/ players we have bought we should be able to break the majority of teams down in this league and I know we're obviously going to have our off days. We've beaten Gainsborough all at home (currently 14th) Hyde(22nd) Worcester(12th) Leamington (19th) Lowestoft(15th) Gloucester(20th) Stalybridge (17th) Colwyn Bay (18th)

Chorley (7th) Boston(8th) Hednesford(6th)

We scraped past several of these, as you can see we've played a lot of the bottom half of the table. I can only remember us playing really well or being entertained for 45 mins V Chorley(who were didn't turn up by all accounts) and the last 15 mins against Gloucester when the game was over. Now I can take scrapping past teams in the top 6 and to an extent top 10. But we've served up dross against dross. Majority of these games we've been playing long ball with McMillan/ Grand pumping it long to Cook from the first whistle. I can understand that in the last 10 minutes when we are chasing a game but from the first minute suggests a lack of ideas/ plan b from the management. I've been to most home games and I've listened to the last 2 which sounded painful.

We've been quite poor away from home winning 4 games from 12. Which for a mid table team that would be fine. But we have ambitions for promotion and we've also spent a lot.

It was obvious to most that we would need a replacement for Wilson when he first got injured early in (Octoberish ? ) for some reason we haven't replaced them(I know recently we have upped the search, but it's a couple of months too late) meaning Walker has had no pressure or competition collecting the very large wage he is rumoured to be on, granted he's been injured a couple of times.

Our cup performance have been absolutely dreadful at the time it was brushed over because we were 1st and nobody seemed to give a shit. Now our league position isn't so good people have remembered. Paul we were dreadful at home to Runcorn, words can't sum it up. We were beaten by a team who pay £5 subs a week, in comparison one of our players is apparently paid £700 a week not including bonuses thus missing out on possibly the easiest route to round 3 we will ever get. Worcester we were very poor and seemed to have no fight nor bottle. They did not park any buses.

On a positive note I appreciate we are in a better position than last year. But we have also spent a lot more money than we had last year. Expectations are rightly higher.

Still we are 2nd. It's unlikely that we'll catch Fylde and we should secure a play off spot minimum (I'm glad you're so confident!)

There we have it.

In one!

I'm all for the owner coming on here and providing information, giving facts about what's happening and the position of the club. Great, let's have more. As one or two have said, it's a refreshing change from the bunker mentality adopted by the previous board.
However, when it comes to opinions on the performance of the team or singling out individual players I start to feel uncomfortable. Of course he will have his opinions just as any fan does but he's not just 'any fan' - he pays their wages. In effect he's their employer and I'm not sure an employer should be going on a public forum and talking about them or singling out particular employees for praise. If you're not one of those what do you think?
It all comes 'round again.

Agree with most that I think it's a good thing he cares enough, he's more of a clue than plenty of chairmen and clearly is passionate about it. He writes very well and although it's unusual, why not post.

I disagree strongly with the pretty football comment though. It's not 'pretty' football, it's common sense football playing through some gargantuan, negative centre halves rather than lumping it skywards. We would win more, not less.

It is possible to be supportive of the club without agreeing with everything on the park, win or lose, speaking as a 'so called fan'.

Fair comments on where we are although I am personally less convinced, but that's what forums are for. :D

I'd say it's another great PR move.

You issue a statement to your supporters through a third party. In that way you don't have to answer every supporter who replies. I've seen certain officials at other clubs go on Fans' Forums under there own name. Not a good move they then tend to get involved in countless discussions.

The message basically says I'm aware of what you the fans are concerned with but trust me we can get through this together.

I can only find two slight mistakes in his statement I think the reference to Wilson was really meant to mean Walker and I think Uncle Peter should have called the thread Paul's thoughts not Paul thoughts.

At the moment PC has achieved his main objectives, he's given the fans hope, the club are on the up and he's managed in twelve months to become probably the best known Barrovian in the town. If he plays his cards right his fame will spread throughout the country, people around the Country now know the club are on the up and soon the Casson name will become as prominent as possibly Max Griggs or for you American readers Paul Allen.

I make no secret of being the Chairman of the Paul Casson Appreciation Society but there is one thing that does annoy me and can quickly be improved. The club's website. It needs to be updated maybe two or three times a day.
