Tamworth v Barrow
Re: Tamworth v Barrow
It was Cumbria Police advice I think, I was told this by a Tamworth fan who knows people at the club in the pub before the game totally independent of any of the stewards.
Bizarre and irritating thing for them to do but I prefer being segregated anyway, nearly always makes for a better atmosphere.

Al, Didn't notice it on the official website and your right it does state so!, Maybe the club should of announced that they were finally going to put information on the official siteboyliegladbach wrote: And the fact it was going to be segregated has been on Barrow website most of week.
At least they didn't put the prices up like they did for Stockport
Maybe we should announce it on the Trust travel section when a game is to be segregated to avoid any confusion in the future

Re: Tamworth v Barrow
We had this nonsense the last time we visited there a couple of seasons ago. About 6 of us old 'uns wanting to get in the club bar when we arrived and were refused. The team bus were disembarking just were it was all going on and Richie Baker asked what was happening. Right says he outraged (loved a good argument did Richie) and off he went, stomping off in the direction of their official area. We were going out of the car park and a steward was sent to bring us back and put us in the sponsors club. We were told it was because someone was drunk the season before and caused trouble. Nothing had happened to my knowledge anyway as it used to be a nice club to visit.boyliegladbach wrote:Might have been. It's a shame they take this course of action because it gets the day off to a bad start when you are having to battle to get in somewhere as there was no pub handy to go to.
The other side of the coin is the Tamworth fans we have had contact with have always been very nice and a bit of friendly chat doesn't go amiss.

Re: Tamworth v Barrow
the quality of refereeing in this league is poor but yesterday some of the decisions genuinely had me scratching my head, I don't know how he managed to give them the free kick when Wilmer-Anderton was being kicked on the floor, and when walker was being pulled down in the area. Absolutely awful.

Taken from the Tamworth forum......
Really enjoyed the game yesterday, great to see us competing with the best in the league and with a good crowd to cheer the lads on. Thought the ref handled it well as the Barrow players were in his face at every opportunity.
Got to agree 10 out 10 for ref kept the game flowing, physical game never easy well done.

The Tamworth fan we know rang their club to ask why it was segregated and was told it was our club that requested segregation rather than the police. I'd love to know who at the club is spreading lies about us and has it in for us?Kieran wrote:It was Cumbria Police advice I think, I was told this by a Tamworth fan who knows people at the club in the pub before the game totally independent of any of the stewards.

We know a load of the Tamworth lads and have got on really well with them, been out with them in Tamworth previously and we return the favour when they come up here. Met them down there before the match in one of the places in Tamworth town centre there must have been around 60-70 fans and everyone was getting along fine, as well as Barrow fans in other pubs. Complete lack of intelligence as usual.
On the second bit agree that being segregated everyone was together and helped created a better atmosphere and the fact we were warned in advance meant than more than usual went into Tamworth town centre.
Regarding the Radio updates I think Andy Wood needs to get a better phone or should've moved to a different location as all of ours were working fine
Great game in which both sides battled hard. Thought Tamworth shaded the first half but despite having a lot of play in the second half we couldn't quite turn that into clear cut chances or a bad decision from the officials robbed us. A good point and if we continue to play like that we'll beat other sides not as good as Tamworth and hopefully get on a decent run.
Hopefully JW is ok as he had to be helped off - think he's improved in the last few games.

Re: Tamworth v Barrow
According to the police they did not inform Tamworth football club to expect trouble, quite the opposite in fact, and it seems as if Tamworth can't get their story right if they are now blaming our club for saying it. If the police were expecting trouble they would have had our officers in attendance I would expect.
They just wanted to segregate so they should take responsibility for their actions.
A ridiculous scenario was Si Nichols wanting to give me the shirt he promised to spirit. I was just along from him but the metal gate segregated us and a Tamworth fan had to come and tell me a man wanted to speak to me. The female steward wouldn't open the gate so he could hand it to me so it was passed over the top of the gate. It felt like being in prison.

She let Binky through the metal gate - now that's just being irresponsible.

Nah - before you came across she said she couldn't risk opening the gate in case you got through and kidnapped several of Tamworth's youth playersHolkerbird wrote:No she wouldn't let him through.
