Re: Paddy
The words ‘young’ and ‘daft’ are often coupled together with good reason; I think that perhaps those words might have been applicable to most of us at some time in our lives. But as a professional sportsman your immaturities are exposed for all the world to see. For an example in how to conduct yourself as a professional, Paddy need look no further than team mates Grand and Livesey. The rock-solid duo take a lot more punishment than him, never lose their heads and put in highly professional performances every week.
As a little aside, it was strange to see Paddy get in a car with three teenagers after the Chorley game in which he was sent off. I always presumed the players travelled together in a team bus and arrived as a professional unit at away fixtures. Maybe spending more time in the company of his team mates would be of benefit to his BAFC career which must now be on extremely thin ice.

Re: Paddy
It's a difficult call. He has the 'liability' side of his game, but on the other hand I think he has potential to develop into a very good midfielder. Cooky was prone to hotheadedness a few years ago but has now channeled his aggression. Hulbert was an asset in spite of his disciplinary record.
No doubt Paddy now regrets letting everyone down and will have been given a stern lecture on the error of his ways. I hope he will learn from it.

Re: Paddy
The players don't always travel on the team bus when playing some teams. As they live in the Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield areas we do see them in their own cars at some away games so Paddy wasn't doing anything that the other players weren't doing in regard to that.

Re: Paddy
I for one hope its the last time we see Paddy Lacey in the famous Blue and White, hasn't been upto it all season performance wise and with yet another show of disrespect to the club, fans, management and his fellow players he deserves to be shown the door. His stupidity and unprofessionalism took the gloss off an otherwise excellent performance.

Re: Paddy
I'm not a massive Paddy Lacey fan in terms of what he offers the team, but I think people are going a bit over the top here. He made a mistake and got himself sent off, that happens in football sometimes. Also, if you go by his own comments then he is adamant that he never stamped on anyone (didn't see it clearly enough myself so will have to wait for the highlights).

Re: Paddy
I agree with yr comments and Paddy is right he never stamped on anyone he went for the sneaky knee/shin to the Chorley player on the floor as they both were getting up I saw clear as day. Stupid petulant thing to do but as you rightly say these things happen in football. Deserved red end of.Kieran wrote:I'm not a massive Paddy Lacey fan in terms of what he offers the team, but I think people are going a bit over the top here. Sadly wasn't at the game yesterday so can't comment on the sending off. But feel Paddy has been an improving player on last years showings, whether he has improved enough I'm not sure and thankfully it's not for me to decide! He's is still quite young remember at 21, some hone their skills later than others. One thing for certain you get 100% commitment from him for the Barrow AFC cause, at times he can be a little overzealous and just needs to channel things in the right direction. Sometimes I think he believes he's jimmy Case and likes to leave his mark on a game.

Re: Paddy
All that's fair enough but you have to remember he then attempted to head butt the player as he went off, even if it wasn't a full blooded attempt, he made the movement and I could clearly see that from half the length of the pitch away.Kieran wrote:but I think people are going a bit over the top here. He is only young and he's that type of player but there has to come a stage where he has to have some control over his actions, we also have to remember this was his first game back from suspension in a vital game at a vital time of the season.
I like the lad and I'd love him to turn into a Kevin Proctor type player who would be an asset to the team but at the moment it's just not happening.

And what player EVER says "yeah, gotta hold my hand up, I meant that" Actually thinking about it that might be somewhere near the truth because I saw the ref gesture with his leg/foot a raking movement so Paddy might not be lying regarding a "stamp" but trying to distract from what it was actually for.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Paddy
You might want to have a read of this. Great blog anyway, and Harry Pearson is always worth a read, but his piece on John McGovern just shows how important "indiscernable qualities" can be to managers.

Paddy Lacey given a 3 match ban starting 20th April so misses the final game of this season at Lowestoft and first two matches of next season.

Hopefully that will be a problem for some other team and not us.saltcellar wrote:Paddy Lacey given a 3 match ban starting 20th April so misses the final game of this season at Lowestoft and first two matches of next season.

Re: Paddy
He owes the team and us a few performances in the next 3 games then, if selected, which I think he will be cos Edmo seems to be a big fan of his.saltcellar wrote:Paddy Lacey given a 3 match ban starting 20th April so misses the final game of this season at Lowestoft and first two matches of next season.

Worth one in my opinion. If all stay fit I dont see too much reason to strengthen up front too much.mrsenario wrote:in the mail today, lewis guy wanting to earn a contract for next year...will he get one?
