Re: Paddy
If we get promoted I can count on one hand the number of players good enough to keep.
Re: Paddy
Thats just nonsense, its not the players that are an issue its how they are being used which isn't getting the best out of them.DaveP wrote:If we get promoted I can count on one hand the number of players good enough to keep.
Re: Paddy
just my opinion. Maybe our centre halves and a couple of forwards but realistically who else from this team is good enough for say mid table conf prem?

Re: Paddy
I would personally argue for ARH, Sheridan, Pilks, Reid, Ledsham, Cook, Wilson, Guy, Livesey, Grand, off the top of my head.DaveP wrote:just my opinion. Maybe our centre halves and a couple of forwards but realistically who else from this team is good enough for say mid table conf prem?
As mentioned above, we have a squad of good players, they just dont seem to be getting the best out of them.

You could count them on the fingers of one hand if you were from wukkie
La lucha continua...

Or is it perhaps these players aren't as good as some think they are?Steeley wrote:I would personally argue for ARH, Sheridan, Pilks, Reid, Ledsham, Cook, Wilson, Guy, Livesey, Grand, off the top of my head.DaveP wrote:just my opinion. Re: Paddy
Bit of both IMO
The managers often say it's nerves due to standard of player etc and they don't send them out to make those decisions with the ball )ie give it to Grandy..diagonal or up to Cooky and feed off him). Given how we've played at times I find it hard to believe they are not being told to get rid of it quickly forward..
But it is true that these players are at this level for a reason. Cooky (who's brilliant for us) .physically and with an eye for goal, you'd think would walk into a League 2 club. Simon Grand and Jonathan Livesey (and how much has he improved over the season! player of the last 2 months) on decent non league money but no better. Izak Reid and Pilks..played hger but are where they are for a reason..whether it be injuries or overall effectiveness. Centre midfield, Shezza has great dead ball ability but how many times has he uttterly dominated? ARH has been a ton better but usual injuries and also a tendency to drift out of games still there. Paddy Lacey has played enough good games not to deserve some of the stick he gets on here but his decision making is atrocious (Copyright Ruthers). Cowps has something..maybe..but where?
Jason Walker's clever but sometimes fitful contribution I put down to not playing as the central striker, although at times he's looked like he's not handling that well. Andy Burns..has been slightly found out this year but has stuck at it through probably the worst blip of a young career, McWilliams inconsistent/injured.
Etc etc etc.
If we win the league, or go up, the management will have been proved right in their approach. Whatever anyone says, if we don't, a lot of questions will be asked. PC I think would stick with Edmo and Meeks and if you think about where we were when they got together here.. they deserve that IMO.
Even as a support, although we've had good days I'm not sure how much of a positive factor we've been this year, especially at home. Improved greatly in the last month and we must try and keep our nerve.
Win, tis all immaterial.
Everything crossed

Re: Paddy
He needs to work on his distribution once he has done the hard part of winning the ball.
