Agree they all played their part for the club, in good and bad times! Non more so than Tony McMillan. But it was becoming obvious that his days were numbered. Thanks for being a sound keeper and a top bloke Tony Mc and all the best of footballing luck to you all :scarf: :scarf:

Burns is a great lad very tenacious but I feel not quite good enough for the step up.

All of them are decent players who will have no trouble getting fixed up elsewhere. Football is a harsh world at times, but any club with ambitions of progression has to ramp up the calibre of player year on year. I agree about the keepers - first on my shopping list would be a top class goalie - the best we can afford.
Re-read the list ;)
I just did. Bit early in the morning for me...

Agreed. He's still a young lad though - perhaps he should be given a chance to show he can make the step up? Tough call.

Am i right in thinking Grand has stayed at this level because he doesnt want to go FT? Or have i made that up?
I think that is correct.

The difference we have now is that there's making the step up and being good enough to get into the football league.
I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few players going as we need proven quality in the national.
No time for sentiment either.

Agree. Have a feeling Jason Walker won't be retained. :(
Did a good job last season but at times, looked jaded. Also seems to have lost some of the speed and strength he once had. However, I hope I'm proved to be wrong because home grown talent like his is hard to find.

I certainly feel that McMillan, more than anyone else, deserves our thanks. I wonder where that leaves Taylor. Will he be groomed as our first choice keeper or will he perhaps be expected to compete with someone else on equal terms?

Re Jason Walker, I don't think it was coincidence that we started to look better and score more goals when he came in alongside Cook for our last three games. The change was even noticeable from the moment he came on as sub at Brackley. Cook and Walker for me next season.

Yeah - but it's a step higher next season and Jason isn't as young as Cook!
Also; the last three game the Whole Team looked better!

Would like to see him retained as an 'Impact Player' and maybe used as a sub after 70 mins or so...

Walker Is on a three year contract and a great player - he does a lot of work in the local community for the club - I think he is a massive asset to the club.

Not surprised at the 5 released so far -

Burns should stay has looked good apart from a wobble over christmas but most of the team struggled over Christmas.

Walker's on a two year contract anyway, so surely a potential step up into the National League was kept in mind with that one?

Yeah id keep Burns, we have to look at building a squad, no he might not be our first choice right back next season if we bring someone decent in, however, the likes of him and Cowps are excellent squad players, who would you rather have coming in to 'do a job', Burns, who has been with us a while, cares a bit more, or some conference standard backup player who we signed from Macclesfield or somewhere who has less connection with the club than the current crop.

Happy with the 5 released, I would also release the players that weren't regularly in the starting eleven in conference north as they wouldn't get a sniff in the National league.
So that would be McWilliams, Guy, Gorman & Reid. I would also include Ledsham in the released list.
Burns, A-R-H & Cowps, Walker would be good squad players.
Remember, doing a good job that goes unseen is like wetting yourself in a dark suit.

Agree Mark, wouldn't be surprised if the FT proposal may also weed a few out.
