Agree with 4 of the 5 released. Don't agree with McMillan. A far superior goalkeeper than Taylor. McMillan commands his box. Taylor sticks to his line.

Saw Southport recently at Altrincham & there was nothing that really impressed me - Rutherford, Almond & Boyes were playing for them (and all more than unimpressive). However Reeves at Alty was class. I felt there was a mobility about Alty's front line we need their winger Nicky Clee is also pretty good. However, they've all been retained by Alty so may not be an option.

I'd keep Wilson & Burns as I feel they can improve. (Lets face it Wilson's two knee ops didn't help him). What we also need to consider is how big our squad should be next year.

Last thought what about a return of Danny Hurst now at Stockport. I know he's 34 but proven at conf premier level (now national league). Impressed with him when we played at Stockport. Interested in peoples views on that one

Looking at the squad for the Conference National League, Just my views on the current squad and who we should keep.
Management Team/Physio
Darren Edmondson
Alex Meechan
Sean Riley

Goalkeepers
Aaron Taylor - Is he good enough to be the number one choice???

Defence
Simon Grand - Hope he says yes to Edmo
Niall Cowperthwaite - A good utility man to have in your squad (yes)
Andy McWilliams - Worth another look at! (yes)
Danny Livesey - Got to be, solid as a rock! (yes)
Andy Burns - More good games than bad! carried us for a season deserves another chance. (yes)

Midfield
Paddy Lacey - Invite back to training and see how it progresses (Maybe?)
Sam Sheridan - Match winner on his day needs a bit more consistency in his game (yes)
Izak Reid - Another game changer who needs a bit more consistency in his game. (Maybe?)
Dan Pilkington - Injuries have stalled this match winner (yes)
Alex-Ray Harvey - Proves he can be as tenacious in defence as attack given the games (yes)
Alex Newby (on loan at Wukkie) Needs experience and to develop, another season of being farmed out I guess
Johnny Gorman - Not shown enough sorry Johnny (no)
Karl Ledsham - Invite back to training and see how it progresses (Maybe?)

Forwards
Jason Walker - A different type player nowadays holds the ball well and brings the best out of Cook (Yes)
Anthony Wilson - We need Ant fit and playing! Hope he recovers close season and a big (yes) if he does!
Andy Cook - Keep feeding the Cookie monster and he will score! (yes)
Lewis Guy - Taking his time to bed in but could prove a real asset (yes)

Edmos Shopping List
A goalkeeper, two more full backs a central defender, one maybe two midfielders, one winger and a striker

I'd keep Lacey, better than James Owen ever was and everyone was up his arse. Will be an asset next season, and only a young lad, we won the league with him in the middle of the park most games.

Regards Burns, you can't fault his passion and commitment he's shown during the two years he's been at the club. But, this season, the times he's come up against decent left wingers (Almond from Hyde and Lloyd from Fylde are those that spring to mind), he's been taught a few lessons, and that's from wingers who are lower-Conference standard at best.

Keep him for now, if he's not cut out for it at the start of the season, release.

I presume A.B. you mean Hyde at home because at Hyde Cowps played right back with Burnsy sub and it was a disaster.

Totally agree with Martin! the young lad telford had on loan from sunderland at the end of the season is a real goalkeeper would love to bring him in

Martin was exceptional in his first spell. Average in his second spell. I think we can aim for higher than that.

He does. Almond ran him ragged first 20 minutes before going off injured.

Maybe at this time of his career Tony Mc didn't fancy being cover for who ever is coming in. Don't think Aaron T is good enough to be first choice though but he may be happy playing second fiddle at present? After all that was always going to be his role before he got his chance over the last 10 or so games and he still came here. After that I have been impressed with McWilliams in the last few games but probably need someone to replace Burnsey at this next level as much as I like his tenacity. Saying that what if Wilmer-Anderton is an option? Defo need proper and mobile centre back cover and at least a strong goal scoring central midfielder even if Ledsham steps up his game pre season. Another wide player even if we can keep Hayworth and certainly a striker with pace who can get in behind, get onto through balls and generally terrorise defences (Sorry that rules u out Danny Rowe but Bogle or similar would be nice Mr C). In amongst that lot we need some experience of winning at Conf Premier level. No doubt good money will need to be spent and it may be that may mean paying a substantial transfer fee for one or two. If however Mr C is serious about pushing for the playoffs then it needs to be done.

Agree with those that are gone. Taylor I assume is being kept to be back up keeper and pretty sure McMillan wants to be number one somewhere so good luck to him. Of the rest

Keep Definitely: Grand, Livesey, Lacey, ARH, Howarth, Pilks, Cowps, Cook, Walker, Wilson (I would hope Lacey, Cowps and maybe ARH would be squad players and Wilson needs to be fit)
Depends on who else we can get: Burns, McWilliams, Ledsham
Bye Bye: the 5 already + Gorman, Reid, Sheridan & Guy

I would probably be tempted to keep either Burns or McWilliams but look for a couple of first choice full-backs (maybe one who could also slot into central defence when needed) - would love NWA back. Ledsham, I can't quite make my mind up on but I am hoping we can get better so he can be ditched. Gorman and Reid just didn't do enough. Guy is a striker who doesn't score unfortunately and Sheridan despite being loved by most on this forum has failed to perform 90% of the time. I wasn't impressed with Walker for a lot of this season but since the turn of the year I think he has improved and Wilson needs to be fit or he is useless to us.

So on our shopping list:
One quality keeper
Two full backs (preferably with one who could also play CD)
Two quality central midfielders
One winger
One forward

Is that the same lad Boston had when they played at Holker St? That lad was magnificent that day and we'd have scored double figure if it wasn't for his performance. Edmo had him up the coast when he had 6 fingers so will know of the potential the kid has.
