What a load of rubbish. They had their own catering outlets on their own side so there was no reason to come over to the area we were in.
It was a two pronged attack. Those coming from behind the stand and the others coming across the pitch.
How could "have you ever been in trouble with the police?" be mistaken for in Crown Court? It shows the mentality and intellect in the reply.
I hope they get all they deserve and the passage of time doesn't lessen what happened.

Later in the trial, after his brother Kacey Sweet had given evidence, he was recalled to the witness box and it was put to him that he had in fact been in trouble with the police when he was given a reprimand in 2012 for battery.

That's when he said he thought they meant has he ever been in trouble with the police in Crown Court. How he thought the police wouldn't have checked his record I don't know.
If he isn't a football fan why would he want to go to a football match?
Off to the dungeons with the lot of them.

Agree, surely not doing themselves any favours by saying they aren't football fans.

Can't see the jury buying that they were just curious either.

I really hope the law deals with these thugs properly. Prison is the only place for them, anything less is a cop out!

Basically the police got ALL the wrong people......these lads are just a mixture of either innocent "curious" bystanders or people who wanted refreshments while going out of their way to watch something they don't really like or have any interest in.

Whatever they get should be doubled for wasting the courts time & taxpayers money.

I'm interested to know whether any Barrow fans who attended on the day have been asked to be witnesses in this case? I was there and I have provided a detailed statement to the police. I have also agreed to be a witness if required. I have heard nothing. I'm deeply disturbed by the complete lack of concern for the welfare of the Barrow fans demonstrated by the police both on the day and in their subsequent handling of the case. I know that no-one was arrested at the ground on the day and it appears that it was only when the events made the national media that the police decided that they needed to be seen to take some action. They have subsequently expended minimal effort in trying to bring the alleged perpetrators to justice. It has the distinct appearance of an organisation hoping that the whole situation will simply go away and can be brushed under the carpet. After all, who cares about the welfare of fans at FA Cup games? (Note, this is a rhetorical question.)

2 people from Barrow gave evidence in the first week of the trial. There will be 3 trials in total the next one starts june 15th and then the final trial in september.

Supporters have been told via phone calls and letters which trial they will be called up for.

I disagree Esso Blue. I think the police have worked hard to try and bring these people to justice. Many man hours have been spent and they have traveled up and down the country to take statements and keep us informed of the progress of the case.

Just a thought but perhaps the things you witnessed the perpetrators have already pleaded guilty to as some did this almost immediately.

I do agree that there was nothing done on the day in question, slow to respond and when they did turn up they stayed over in the furthest corner of the ground from where we were located.
My stint is the September trial.

I'm relieved to hear that victims and witnesses from the Barrow fans have been involved because the reports that I have seen make no mention of that.

I can only go on the basis of my personal experience with Warwickshire police. There are things that I would like to say but I do not want to put information on a public forum when criminal proceedings are in progress.

Had a letter arrive from the police today and I have been asked to attend on 15th June - nothing like a bit of notice and I haven't heard anything for about 9-12 months so assumed I wasn't wanted. Going to have to read over my statement again if I can find it.
