Re: ALERT: Changes to Pre-Season St Mary's Event
I think the reason is the BDF always gave the money made from the programme and raffle sales back to the club in various ways whereas the Trust is holding the money to be used for the benefit of the members--at least I think that's how the Trust is working. Is it to be used to purchase the club back if PC walks away?

The BDF and Trust has ALWAYS given the money from the programmes back to the club. We just help out selling them and will continue to do so.Holkerbird wrote:I think the reason is the BDF always gave the money made from the programme and raffle sales back to the club in various ways whereas the Trust is holding the money to be used for the benefit of the members--at least I think that's how the Trust is working. As for the raffle, the club have decided to hold a raffle, with the proceeds being split between the club and the hospice. This is entirely their perogative and personally i wish them all the best. We have urged our raffle sellers to contact the club should they wish to continue.

tictactoe wrote:Spot on. We took money off them for sponsorship rightly or wrongly and now we've given most of it back. Add to that taking the half time raffle on match days off the trust (yes that still annoys me) so the hospice can have it, we should have just let them be sponsors for free, let them have their awareness days at matches and do grand draws every so often to raise money. I know I sound like I'm anti hospice, I really am not its a great charity which I always support, but it just looks to me like the club are doing things to justify the sponsorship.walney rock wrote:Should have just given the hospice shirt sponsorship for free, and then maybe we wouldn't be in the situation of trying to pay for people to go to events which is pretty poor as it makes us look like we ain't bothered in what should be a great event
I can see no problem with Paul Casson wanting to let the sponsors and club benefit from a half time raffle.
It's his club.
Re: ALERT: Changes to Pre-Season St Mary's Event
The split was never mentioned, just that the trust could no longer do their raffle. Things have obviously changed.
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

No change really, just a better understanding now of how it's going to work.

Heard a rumour today that the cost for Saturday's event is still £40...and that's what the official site still says.

Re: ALERT: Changes to Pre-Season St Mary's Event
Ive read on the commercial site it's £600 (Massively too much) to sponsor a player for the season. You get your name in the programme, a signed shirt, the players kit at the end of the year and a signed photo.
I thought there was a silent auction at this event to sponsor a player?
Which one is it?

Thanks for pointing that out Nigel. Sad to say that's a group of 10 who won't now be going as planned.Nigel Bamford wrote:Not a rumour, they are. I read somewhere the other day it's sold out, so if that's correct you couldn't have booked now anyway regardless of price.
Edit. Yes I did read it. https://mobile.twitter.com/BarrowAFC/st ... 8432975877
