Barrow vs Dover - Match thread

Not difficult to work out. Barrow has a massive Premier league fanbase and many support Barrow and UtD/L'pool. Being the lunchtime kick off these fans have been able to watch the Man U v Tottenham game - probably at the ground before taking in the Barrow match. If it had been Liverpool game on tv it would have been LFC shirts on the terraces. Just the way it is.

People will always wear Man United shirts if they support Man UTD.

Steeley raised this with me at the game what makes someone think " ill go and watch Barrow today, best wear my Man Utd shirt"

Then again they probably took one look in the empty club shop and saw our £40 [SwearFilter] poor efforts.

Yeah,at least they are a far cry from the ones that have armchairs super glued to their backsides I suppose, and I know quite a few of them.

The second goal was how football should be played - on the ground. Not hoofing balls 50 feet in the air (like last season) and headers going nowhere in a nice arc (although Dover matched us in that department.) When we keep the ball on the ground we look good and play well although too many mistakes from moves that must look good on the training ground but don't always work in a match.

Mo Fofana stood out and deserved his MOTM award. It was his initial play that set up Pilkington for his cross (which he is good at) and the finish from Cook was what we expect from him and get many a time. As for his first goal how many strikers would have fallen over trying for the penalty? Instead of keeping on their feet and still continuing to try and put the ball in the net. But having said that we do need another striker. Defence is important but if in the majority of your matches you score one more goal than the opposition every match then that's success.

We did ride our luck yesterday and really Dover deserved a draw but there will be other games, as there have been in the past, when the opposition has the luck. Swings and roundabouts. Take it when it's there.

MOM a close thing between Fofana and Cook in my opinion

Great result that against a very capable Dover side. Underway with a win from an entertaining game.
Strong and clinical, Andy Cook's determination hauled us back into contention after a difficult start. Mo Fofana is the central midfield presence we've maybe lacked in recent seasons, protecting the back four and our lead with blocks, interceptions and aerial ability. Dave Symington used the ball intelligently when introduced, retaining and delivering well. Joel Dixon looks to be positive and decisive as a goalkeeper - I like that.
As a team, there was some early season positional uncertainty which a quick, attacking Dover side - deserving of at least a draw - came very close to exploiting. They could've been out of sight inside 20 minutes. Too many attempts were allowed on goal. This happens in early season. You'd expect us to tighten up as understanding and cohesion develops.

Edmo should be worried. Dover created loads of chances. On another day we could have lost heavily. Our second goal was superb btw

Red boy Are you as Bitter as you come across on here? As for Manure shirts or any other clubs, don't care as long as they pay their money and vocally support our team, The trick is to convert them to coming back time & again. Good crowd & Win, Happy
