in short - we were extremely poor last night. we have not recruited good enough to warrant PC and some fans saying "play offs" - you are only going to get so far playing a long ball in this league. This squad is probably just about good enough to stay up - but if we want to achieve more than that then we need to bring some quality in asap. - either that or the board/management etc need to shut up about playoffs/challenging etc because it makes us look stupid.

Im joing the a former member of this forum and Steeley 'Negative Club' Im afraid. - Edmo gone by Christmas due to average results and poor quality football/low gates.

I believe we have some good players - but like last season we don't get the best out of them

I saw enough in the first 15 mins at FGR to suggest we can be mid table in this league

In terms of pekoe moaning that's fine people who spend good money supporting the team have every right to - I do think tho 4 games in it's a bit early to be pressing the panic button

I don't want us to talk the team down too much I'd hate for all the hard work from last season to go to waste

It's the qulaity (lack of) and ineffectiveness of the football the players are being sent out to produce. There are payers here good enough to be better than we have been, even last season.

3 games, 1 win, 1 draw and a loss against a title contender is not a bad start. It's not a great start either, but either way it's nowhere near a big enough sample size to be judging anything properly.

Give it another couple of weeks and we can start drawing conclusions. 3 games is nothing.

Folk seem to be jumping on the positive message put out that we wanted to push for the play offs.. isnt that what every manager/owner says at the start of a new season.. imagine the uproar if they have come out and said "Well, I think we're relegation favourites, but we'll have a go and see what happens.."

I'm sure PC has come out and made that statement to feed the posivity on last season success.

No one ever comes out and says 'I think we will be in the play offs'!!!
Look at Chelsea for example, never ever mentioned winning the league last season until it was won, where as they practically had it sewn up by xmas.

Set expectations low and then we are more likely to over achieve.

REALITY CHECK, weve just been promoted, survival will be success, but by saying these things come the end of the season if thats what we achieve it will be seen as failure.

So you are saying Paul Cassons lied then? He said we would aim for the play offs to instill a false sense of security into the fans? I don't think Guiseleys manager or owner would have said they wouldn't be surprised if they are in and around the play offs.

He didnt have to say " we are relegation favourites" no one would say that. Something more along the lines of " its going to be tough now we are in a higher league, and we have to adjust. Survival is the main aim but hopefully we can push on up to mid table."

Some fans on here are living of False hope and their expectations are slowly starting to be shown exactly as false. Nothing wrong with positivity but when its getting confused with naivety then somethings not right. We have to be realistic

i have only seen the home games but i wish i could share some of the optimism by some on here,i will always support the team but i can`t see what`s going to change unless our management team change the strategy (at least at home)because we seem to be devoid of keepng any ammount of pressure on teams,i really hope i`m wrong but edmo has to get the team fired up as he did against tamworth,north ferriby,lowestoft,yes we are playing better teams but we need a much more higher tempo/committment!

See this is the problem at the moment. Complete assumption that we will stay up in this league (and 4 season aswell!)

This is a tough league, long balls won't work as often as they did in conf north.

With the playing conditions we have now we must try and get the ball an the deck as there was far to much long ball football last night, I was really disappointed with Ashton, forfana, and Mellor
