Purely because of all the hype of Paul Casson taking over and spending money. Either there has been a lot less spent than they expected or it's been spent very badly judging by reports on here of the new players. I live in Portsmouth and they have been the bookies favourites to win Division 2 for the last 2 seasons. 2 years ago they just avoided relegation to the Conference and last season they finished mid-table. Why were they favourites for 2 seasons? Purely because they get crowds of 16,000 in a league where a couple of thousand is the norm!

As for Portsmouth they too had a decent team , but everybody wanted too beat them being ex Prem, I thought they would find it tough , beating Portsmouth is good scalp!

I watch Pompey a fair bit and the team for the last 2 years wasn't decent. In fact, it was not good enough for Division 2. The new manager, Paul Cook obviously also thought so as he released almost all of last season's squad. In fact, yesterday just 1 player who was in last year's team was in the 11 against Morecambe and almost all of last season's squad is now playing in the Conference this season. This season with a decent manager in Paul Cook it is better and just might be good enough to mount a challenge but it is certainly not going to walk away with the league as many of the fans think/hope/believe. Many football fans are totally blinkered and have little idea whether their team is good, bad or in the middle. They merely think the team is good because it's their team. There are plenty like that at Pompey, Barrow and every other club in the country! Some are more logical and judge a team more realistically. It avoids a lot of disappointment most of the time!

On paper if all our squad was fit - I say it's a good squad too reach top 10 and push for playoffs . I know it's a tough division , they all are ! Just saying not many squads I'd love too have over Barrows in this league - just 1 or 2 . This is a new team , takes time too gel , but on paper it's good , just need too be injury free and gain some spirit! As for Portsmouth , tough division , they are scoring goals , playoffs minimum I'd say! They were 7-1 too win it at the start which I did fancy , but it's tough too call L2 !

Weve only had one major injury concern and that was Anthony Wilson.

Other injuries have been 2/3 week jobs.

So on paper isnt really that different to whats on the pitch

I think you're living in the one-eyed football supporter dream world if you really believe this squad has top 10 potential!

Do I think that the likes of Dover , Chester , Gateshead , Torquay , Wrexham , Cheltenham have a far superior squad than Barrow's then no I don't ! We just need a style of play ! I'm happy with the squad , others won't be, that's football , but I'm still hopeful we can steer clear of the bottom zone and push into top 10 and a little bit further! Glass half full !

Id say we have a squad capable of staying up. Anything higher than that would be a bonus.

Seriously lacking a creative centre midfielder and more worrying a strategy at times.

If we can work on Grands obsession with giving the opposition goal kicks down there end weve a chance of doing well.

This guy from New Zealand , hopefully he'll just go create! I think we have goals in our team , Cook, Jase , Pilks , Haworth , Cosgrove could be handy , Grimes could score 10-15 ! Just need too attack with more intent and move the ball around up front quickly !
